Day 2 Recap
David Pless of Bates College repeated as the indoor national shot put champion, it was his 3rd title in a row. Pless qualified for the final with a 18.24m throw on his second attempt. He had his best throw on his first attempt in the finals, the winning throw 60-3. Teammate Sean Enos just missed an All-American spot as he finished 9th, Enos best throw was 55-1 1/2.
USM's Jamie Ruginski just missed the podium with a 9th place finish. The sophomore had his best jump with his third attempt in the trials, the mark 47-10.
James Lepage of Bates ran a personal best 1:51.08 to break his own Bates college record in the 800m on his way to an All-American 4th place finish. USM's Kevin Desmond also earned All-Amerian status via his 8th place 2:01.97
In the Mile Keene State's Ryan Widzgowski ran the best race of his life to finish as the national runner-up in a personal best 4:07.86. The time was under the old D3 indoor meet record of 4:08.19 held by 2013 US indoor mile champion Will Leer. Bowdoin's Coby Horowitz was 3rd with his 4:09.8 to earn All-Amercian status, while Bates Tully Hannan was just off the podium in 9th as he ran 4:12.93
Sam Seekins of Bowdoin College was 13th in the 5k, Seekins time was 15:09.7
Ithaca's Emilia Scheemaker just missed the podium in the triple jump with a 37-7 3/4 leap which was good for 9th less than 2 inches from All-American
In the Men's 4x400, Chris Fogler of Williams College was akey part of the All-American 6th place team who ran 3:17.89
In the Women's 4x400, Emily Tolman & Brittany Bell of Colby College ran on the 4th place team, the Mules ran 3:51.58 to lower their school record once again.
Day 1 Recap
David Pless of Bates College was the runner-up in the 35lb weight throw. Pless was 5th a year ago moved up to the #2 spot with his second best throw of the season 64-10 3/4. David will attempt to defend his shot put title tomorrow.
Sean Enos of Bates finished 11th in the 35lb weight throw with a throw of 56-6 3/4
Mitchell Black of Tufts ran the 800m leg for the national runner-up Distance Medley Relay team, Black rallied the Jumbos squad to pass the stick even to the mile leg. Tufts time was 10:00.23
Bowdoin sophomore Erin Silva jumped 11-9 3/4 to place 12th overall. Silva made the opening height 11-3 3/4 on her 2nd attempt, and made her final height on a 3rd attempt clearance.
Defending 60m national champion Dominique Kone of Colby failed to advance to the final after running 7.05 in the trial. Kone entered the championship dealing with a hamstring injury and wasn't comepting at 100%
