Lawrence girls & EL Boys top of KVAC Class A

Lawrence girls win first ever title, while Edward Little boys make it 10 in a row!

The Lawrence girls won their first ever KVAC Class A title, as the Bulldogs scored 127 to outdistance Edward Little 104. On the boys side Edward Little made it 10 conference titles in a row as they fought on a valiant effort from Lawrence who finished just 4.5 points of the Red Eddies.

Lawrence was paced on the girls side by distance runner Erzsebet Nagy who the 1600m (5:15.20), 800m (2:19.69), 3200m (11:18.41). The Bulldogs also won the 4x800 & 4x400m relays.

Edward Little's Lexi Clavet did her part for the Red Eddies winning the long jump (16-2 3/4) & triple jump (35-5). The triple jump mark was a Class A leading jump.

Edward Little also ran the fastest 4x100m relay in the state with a 50.87 clocking

Lindsey Folsom of Cony broke the league record in the pole vault with a personal best 11-7.

Edward Little boys pulled out their 10 straight win in the final 2 events as they had to overcome two disqualifications. The Red Eddies got big efforts from Lucas Bourget & Connor Harris. Bourget won the 1600m racewalk 7:06.21, he was 3rd in the 1600m & 800m. Harris won the triple jump with a Class A leading 44-5 1/2, he also was tops in the high jump (6-2) & second in the long jump 20-8 1/2 (his jump was tied for best but got beat out by the second best jump.


Brunswick's Alex Nichols showed good form winning the 100m (11.35), 400m (50.58) & 200m (22.91), plus a strong anchor leg in the winning 4x400m relay that ran state #2 3:32.58

Mt Blue's Justin Tracy was tops in the 1600m with a seasonal best (4:27.24) as he held off a strong challenge by Brunswick's Jamie Ross (4:27.98). Tracy would come back to win the 3200 in 10:10.61.

Other standouts performances came from Isaiah Harris who ran a personal best 1:58.57 in the 800m. Jake Doolan of Lawrence won the javelin 164-4 and the long jump 20-8 1/2


In the throws Lawrence's Jeremy Frantz had a banner day, throwing a huge personal best 133-8 to win the discus, and then with a seasonal best 47-4 1/2 in the shot put.
