Hello Everyone!

This weekend was my last ever Maine State Championship. I want to thank all my coaches, all my teammates, and all the friends that I have made over the last four years, for helping my high school running career be as rewarding as it was. All you underclassmen are going to kill it next year! Shout out to Malia and Amanda ~ The future of York girls distance!! Get after it!!

Though this season was full of rainy, cold meets, the track Gods didnʼt fail to make the State meet a scorcher, which, by now, seems like tradition... Though we may not have been acclimated to the heat, there were new state records, new facility records, personal bests, season bests, and gutsy performances throughout the day! I personally didnʼt break any of my own records, but I still had a great day, and enjoyed being a spectator when I wasnʼt running my own races!

Looking back over the last four years, there are races that stick out to me; both good and bad. There are races that I wish I could do over, and run more tactically. There are races that I wish I could run fresh, and there are races that I wish I could have tried harder in. But in the end, the moments that stick out to me the most are the successes, the pre-race encouragement and post-race relief shared with teammates and competitors, cheering for our teamʼs relays, and growing mentally and physically from each and every event. This sport has given me enough knowledge, confidence, and strength, to know that I am ready for college-level running. I canʼt wait for cross country in the fall, and canʼt wait to be teammates with the fabulous Shannon Conley of South Portland! Letʼs go Hawks! Thank you again to everyone that has been on this journey with me, and I wish the best of luck to all you seniors in your future endeavors. I hope to see some of you at college races! And those of you who go to ARC... itʼs going to be RAD. See you there!!

Good luck to everyone, keep running hard, and keep running happy :)

With Love, Heather Evans
