Tell us how your summer training is going?

My summer training has been going great! I’ve been running with my teammates and also had time to throw in some cross training, which has been a nice mix-up.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

My primary goal is to finish States knowing that there was nothing I could have done, during the season or the race itself, that would have improved my performance. I plan on doing everything in my power to train and race well this season. I’m also hoping this will result in a faster pr.

How long have you been running and how did you get started?
I’ve been running since before I can remember. When I was 5 or 6 I started running mile fun runs with my mom, and soon we were walking and jogging 5ks. When I was 8, I decided I wasn’t going to stop and ran the 3.1 miles without walking. After that, my mom and I continued to run a couple of 5ks every year until I joined the cross country team in 6th grade. Cross country’s been my favorite sport ever since!

Will you be competing anywhere out of state this season?

I don’t plan to.

What is your favorite course to run in Maine?

My favorite course is definitely Belfast.

What is the toughest course to run in Maine?

I personally think that the toughest course is Twin Brook

What meet during the regular season do you put extra emphasize on to compete well at?

As a team, we try to do well at Festival of Champions. FOCs is my favorite race, so I always get extra excited for it.

What is your favorite cross country race so far in your high school career & favorite cross country memory?

My favorite race is probably New Englands of last year (my junior year). I felt like I ran a smart race and was proud of my time, especially considering the less than ideal conditions. My favorite memory is probably the State meet two years ago, when I was a sophomore. Every single member of our team ran as hard as they could. I remember we all ended up collapsing after crossing the finish. We were absolutely exhausted. The year before I had been an alternate, so I was also just incredibly happy to have reached the level where I could compete in States at all. It was an amazing feeling to be so proud of yourself and all of your friends.

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

Get coffee with my friends.

Favorite quote?

“Most people run a race to see who is the fastest. I run a race to see who has the most guts” -Pre

What shoes do you train in?

Saucony Kinvara 5s and Brooks Pure Connects

What shoes do you race in?
Saucony Kilkenny xc4s

What professional athlete would you most like to meet?

I would most like to meet either Meb or Claressa Shields (the Olympic boxer who won gold at the London Olympics at the age of 17). Both people are amazing athletes.

What is something that most people don't know about you?

Something that most people don’t know about me is that I have a twin brother. While he hates any kind of distance running, he is a star running back on the Varsity football team.
