Ya! Its finally the postseason, for me, the more fun part of cross country racing. As many of you know I’ve finished one race at this point (and that was more of a tempo), due to some various reasons. The most prominent reason for the last two weeks was my ankle; I have a bad habit of spraining it, at least once a month in cross season, way more often in the summer. This has not set back my training at all that much, if anything, it has helped. I tend to have not so happy shins, so having little breaks help them kinda heal to the point where they are not putting up a fight every time I run. A lot of people have asked me if I’m nervous to race and potentially hurt my ankle again; I’m not. I’m confident in my ability to run safely and I feel like I have used up all my bad luck for this season. I believe that if you think negatively about things like that you wont have that little luck to help you out. I rather let myself believe that there is no way I’m going to roll my ankle. Many people use a percentage like running is 10% physical and 90% mental. I fully believe that. I’m tend not to be a mentally strong runner, but that is something I have been working on. I am running Saturday and I’m super excited to race against my peers for the almost first time this year.

The postseason is a ton of fun for many reasons. I tend to get way too excited for these sort of things and kinda amplify the habits I do all season, like healthy eating and water. I usually drink like 90 oz of water but I went a little crazy with the water this week and have been at 160 oz all week, almost double my usual water intake. Hydration nation

I don’t know about you guys but I’m a huge fan of visualization. I tend to when getting all my stuff out for the meet and narrate my race plan to my spikes. I am very aware that is quite weird, but think about it, you and your spikes are in it together. Those 5,000 meters you are not running with nothing you have your trusted spikes with you. I feel like they should know what we are getting ourselves into.

To mix it up a little, THE CHOCOLATE MILK MILE is coming up guys!! November 15th at BHS people be there or be square! I was so jealous last year when I saw the coverage last year and legit have been looking forward to this all year. Its going to be amazing!!

Good Luck and Stay Dry!
