The Waterville girls entered the 2015 Class B State Championship seeking a 5th consecutive title, and the seniors who had never lost in an indoor state meet weren't going to be denied.

Seniors Sarah Shoulta and Kellie Bolduc led the way as the Panthers tallied 74.83 points to hold off runner-up Greely 59.33. Standout Sarah Shoulta ran a seasonal best of 8.77 in the 55m hurdles in the trials, and won the final for the second season in a row in 8.79. Shoulta also defended her pole vault title with a 9-6 clearance, and added a leg on the winning 4x200m relay team.

Fellow senior Kellie Bolduc won the triple jump state title for the third consecutive year, Bolduc secured the win with her first attempt 35-10, and finished the day off with a state leading mark on her final jump of the competition leaped out to 36-6 1/2. Bolduc came up big again in the high jump as she cleared 5-0 to finish as the runner-up, and she also added 6 more points with a third in the hurdles.

Waterville got a pair of third place finish from junior Lauren Brown in the 2 mile, Alison Linscott in the high jump, and the 4x800m relay squad.

Runner-up Greely was paced by Alyssa Coyne who won the shot put with a 39-0 heave, she added a third in the pole vault as well. They won the opening 4x800m relay in 10:24.99, plus got a win from freshman Izzy Evans in the mile.

Senior Kate Hall of Lake Region did her thing once again. The senior won 3 individuals for the 4th consecutive year giving her 12 titles in 12 attempts. Hall opened her day breaking her own state meet record in the long jump on her final attempt in the prelims as she got out to 19-6 1/2. Kate would easily win the 55m dash as she equalled her own state meet record in the final with her 7.05. In her final state meet indoor race, Hall lowered her own 200m state meet record as she clocked a seasonal best 25.17

Yarmouth's Emma Egan set a state record in the high jump as the junior cleared 5-4 1/2 to take down the 17 year old mark of Kate Getz from Greely. Egan was also the state runner-up in the long jump with a 16-5 leap. Egan who scored 24 points on the day to place Yarmouth 6th overall as team also finished third in the 55m dash.

Mattanawcook's Academy's Tia Tardy was a double winner. Tardy opened her day with a convincing win in the 800m as the sophomore ran a state leading mark of 2:19.08. She would come back in the 2 mile to pull away from Fryeurg's Anna Lastra in the final laps, her winning effort was 11:57.21

Rebecca Lopez-Anido of Orono won the 400m in a strong 60.07


On the boys side the Wildcats of York showed their winning ways once again as they captured their 3 Class B State title in the last four years. York tallied 71 points, while Old Town scored 59 to finish as the runner-up

York got the meet off on the right foot in the opening track event the 4x800. The Wildcats who entered as the second seed some 18 seconds back of top seed Orono. York got the job done as they took the top spot with a 8:35.14 to hold of Wells.

Leading the way for York was senior Tucker Corbett who ran a leg on the victorious 4x800. Corbett gained an individual title as he ran away with the 400m race clocking 51.69 to win by almost two seconds. He would add 8 more important points with a runner-up finish in the 200m.

Hurdler Colt Santoro lowered his personal best to 8.04 as he captured the 55m hurdler title. Santoro also ran a leg on the second place 4x200m relay team. Senior Jordan Pidgeon provided some valuable points in the triple as he jumped a personal best 42-9 1/4 to finish second.

Old Town was paced by a 1-3-4 finish in the 55m dash as senior Nicolas Boutin took home the title with his 6.73 clocking. Sophomore Thomas Darby was third while junior Ian Haddow was fourth. Boutin would add a second individual title when he took the 200m in 23.51. He would combine with Darby, Haddow & Joshua Willey to win the 4x200m.

Fryeburg Academy's Xiayou Victor Yang had quite a day as the junior won the high jump with a 6-4 clearance, and the triple jump with a huge personal best 44-4 1/4

Waterville's Chris Cote won the mile with a last lap kick, his winning effort was 4:36.01. In the 2 mile Cape Elizabeth's Mitch Morris ran away from the field to win in 9:46.1 almost 20 seconds faster than the runner-up.

MDI's Ralph Magnani set the pace in the 800m, and was the only one to being able to handle it as the senior ran 2:00 for the win. Teammate Ryan Bender added another individual title for the Trojans with his 20-9 leap in the long jump.

Waterville's Trever Gray won his first individual state title as he threw a seasonal best 52-2 1/4 in the shot put.

Drew Nealey of Belfast won the pole vault state title for the second season in a row as he cleared 13-6, Nealey would add a runner-up finish with his 6-2 clearance in the high jump.
