Tardy sub 5, Orono girls & Brewer boys win EMITL Titles

The Orono girls entered the 4x200m relay down 89-85 to Hampden Academy, but the Red Riots came through with the meet on the line as they won the final event, clocking 1:50.37 for 10 points, while Hampden Academy was DQ'd in section 3.
Orono was led by sprinter Lauren Stoops who won the 55m hurdles in 8.70, she also took the 200m in a seasonal best 26.34, she also ran a leg on the victorious 4x200m.
Distance ace Tia Tardy ran a leg on the winning the 4x800m relay then came back to shatter the league record in the Mile as she broke 5 minutes for the first time when she crossed the finish line in 4:55.23. The old league record was 5:04.66 set back in 2003 by Brewer's Heather Clark. The time is the #2 performance in Maine history, and ranks Tardy 17th nationally.
Another record breaker from Orono was Allie Pickering in the pole vault. Pickering cleared a personal best 10-0 but wasn't done there as she added 3 more inches with a record breaking leap of 10-3. Her jump broke the 10-2 1/2 effort of Bangor's Abigail Reynolds (2012). Watch the jump below
MDI's Ashley Anderson was voted the Outstanding Performer of the Meet, as she won the 55m dash in 7.60, then came back to win the 400m dash with a 62.70, before finishing up here meet with a strong runner-up finish in the 200m with a 26.65 effort.
In the shot put Daija Misler of Hampden Academy had a big throw of 38-10, that mark was over a foot personal best breaking her own Fieldhouse record of 37-6 1/2 from earlier this season. Her throw has her ranked #2 in Class A.
