SOPO Vacation Invitational: Guiliani opens with 65-5, US#6 in shot

The South Portland Vacation Invitational once again produced some top marks as a total of 11 new state leading marks were set.

Leading the way was Daniel Guiliani of South Portland who threw US #6 in the shot put with his winning mark of 65-5, the mark was 1" below his opening mark from a season ago at the same meet. Guiliani also added a state leading effort in the discus with a toss of 156-11. 

Girls Sprints: State record holder Alexandra Hart set a state leading mark in the 400m with her 62.47 winning run, Hart also took the 100m dash clocking state #2 13.14. She also added another win in the 200m (27.47)

Girls Hurdles: Jenny Martin of Lewiston won the 100m hurdles in 16.47, a new state leader. She doubled back to set another state leading mark in the 300m hurdles, crossing the line in 48.96

Girls Distance: Emily Carty of Fryeburg won the 1600m with a 5:36.67 effort then doubled back to win the 800m with a 2:35.32.

Girls Throws: Samantha Curran of Thornton Academy threw a state leading 36-3 to win the shot put. 

While in the discus Emily Grinnell of Cheverus set a new state leading mark with her 103-2 throw, Grinnell is the only thrower over 100ft this season.

Girls Jumps: Adela Kalilwa of Lewiston was a double winner with a 15-8 3/4 effort in the long jump, then added a 33-9 1/2 leap in the triple jump. The triple jump mark is ranked #2 in the state.

Class A indoor high jump champion Nyagoa Bayak opened her high jump season with a 5-4 clearance

Boys Sprints: Daniel Marsh of Thornton Academy ran away from the field to set a state leading mark in the 400m with his 52.90 winning effort. Marsh came back to run 23.55 in the 200m.

Boys Distance: Westbrook senior Josh Richards ran a state best 2:05.08 as he held off a strong challenge from Abbas Muktar of Lewiston (2:06.42)

In the mile Osman Doorow of Lewiston ran 4:35.71 to win with ease, his time is the #2 time in the state.

Boys Hurdles: Westbrook's Shammah Gahomera led a 1-2-3 from the Blue Blazes as they clocked the 1-2-4 fastest times in the state. Gahomera also won the 300m hurdles in 44.68

Boys Relays: Cheverus ran the fastest time in the state with a 46.48 effort. Lewiston added a state leading run in the 4x400 with a 3:45.70 winning effort.

Boys Jumps: Marcus Devoe of Lake Region won the high jump with a clearance of 6-0. Class A indoor triple jump Stefan Porter won the triple with a 40-2 1/4 leap.
