Tardy & Hassett win inaugural B2B HS Mile

MDI rising senior Tia Tardy, who entered the inaugural Beach to Beacon High School Mile as the favorite, lived up to those expectations as she lead the girls race from start to finish, finishing in a time of 5:32. She was closely followed by Greely senior Katherine Leggat-Barr (5:35), with Emily Carty of Fryeburg rounding out the top three girls with an effort of 5:44

"I'm glad I got to be apart of the first one" Tardy said after the race.

On the boys side it was senior John Hassett of George Stevens Academy who crossed the finish line first, his winning time was 4:37. He battled it out with Falmouth senior Jeremiah Sands for most of the race before pulling away in the final 400m. Sands was credited with a 4:40.

Waterville sophomore Nick Dall finished third in the boys race (4:54) as he edged Caleb Pendleton of Bonny Eagle at the line.

We caught up with the winner after the race to discuss how things went on the race course.
