In her own words: Tia Tardy - Transition

Hi,

I hope everyone had a great summer and found some time to relax before the XC season started. My mom made me take 3 weeks off after working at Waynflete's running camp with Sophia Mayone (who is AWESOME btw). I fought her all the way, but it turned out to be just what I needed. Mothers know best, right?

No one can say that I've had a typical high school experience. After leaving my hometown high school and having the good fortune of being welcomed into the Orono school system and community for my junior year, our family like many other Maine families, had their life disrupted by the closure of manufacturing industries. Fortunately for us, my father was able to be re-employed down on the coast, which enables my sister and I to attend MDI High School.

Once I started training again, it was difficult to get right back into it. I wanted to be right where I left off (though I knew that was virtually impossible). Now that preseason has started, I have been able to get acquainted with the MDI team. Everyone has been so welcoming and I am very excited to train in such a beautiful area. Honestly, every trail is breathtaking. With the switch, I will be running Class B now. I will miss running with my Class C friends, but I am looking forward to running with the B girls as well.

One thing is for sure, with all of the moves during my high school career, I think I will be plenty ready to settle down for 4 years of college.
