Others to Watch

Nick Reznick (MDI) Reznick has the 3rd fastest 5k in the region this year a 17:37 from FOC. Unfortunately he hasn't race since FOC due to a possible injury. If healthy he will contend for a top 5 spot without a doubt.

Trevor Iltis (Camden Hills) Iltis was 12th in the KVAC Championship last week he has a best of 17:53 on the year at Belfast which is 6th fastest in the region

Matt Frost (Ellsworth) Frost was 3rd in the PVC Championship last weekend, narrowly losing to Desmond of Caribou, he is a threat to crack the top 4 this weekend. His 18:00 is 9th fastest in the region in 2016

Class B Boys Team Preview

The Vikings of Caribou dominated the PVC Class B Championship last weekend, and head to regional championship as the favorites to capture the title. The Vikings are led by the 1-2 punch of Dylan Marrero & Evan Desmond. Caribou had a 18:04.34 team average with a 50.5 1-5 runner split so far in 2016.

PVC runner-up John Bapst & Ellsworth will contend for the runner-up plaque along with KVAC Class B third place team Camden Hills.

Bapst's edged Ellsworth by 2 points last weekend at PVC's. They enter the meet with a 18:25 team average, and a 1:28 split. Ellsworth only has the 7th best team if you only look at 5k seasonal bests but don't count the Eagles out, they showed last weekend they run well when it counts.

Camden Hills has a slightly better team average at 18:22.9 by there split time is almost 2 minutes. MDI figures to be in the mix as well if Nick Reznick runs for the Trojans.

Class B Girls Individuals

Tia Tardy (MDI) It has been perfection so far in 2016 for MDI senior Tia Tardy who enters the regional meet as the odds on favorite to win. Tardy who ran for Orono a year ago won the Class C Northern Maine title a year ago. So far in 2016 Tardy had the fastest 5k in state a 18:32.71 effort from Festival of Champions where she used he speed over the final half mile to pull away from a talented field. Lats weekend she set a new course record at Old Town as she won the Class B PVC title in 18:58.

Augusta Stockman (Camden Hills) Stockman who didn't know if she'd be able to run this fall because of injury has done very well considering. Her best race of the season came at FOC where she ran 19:04.82, the second fastest 5k in the region this fall. At the KVAC Championship last week, Stockman struggled to a 7th place finish, and appear to be limping post race. Hopefully it was just a small thing and she can return to form this weekend.

Class B Girls Team Preview

Camden Hills enters the regional as the favorites based of top times so far in 2016. However the Windjammers didn't have the best day at KVAC's but that might have been because #3 runner Grace Iltis & #5 runner grace Dutton didn't run. With a healthy Augusta Stockman and Iltis & Dutton back in the lineup Camden Hills will be hard to beat as they have a 20:33 team average and 2:39 1-5 spread.

PVC Champion MDI has been coming on strong the last two weeks, and they are primed to challenge for the top spot in the region. MDI has the low stick with Tia Tardy leading the way. They will need a big day from Katelyn Osbourne & Emily Banks if they want to take the top spot.

Caribou was the runner-up at the PVC Championship they figure to be a top 3 team overall.
