Salute to Seniors: Samuel Rusak (Scarborough High School)

School: Scarborough High school 

What was your most memorable race? 

The 200m dash at the state meet my junior year against Paolo DeMarco and Matt Polewaczyk.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

My biggest competition over the four years was Travis in the vault, Ben Batoosingh in the 400m, and Matt in the 200m.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

Winning four individual events at the state meet my junior year.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school? 

I wouldn't have tried to throw the discus at the second practice of my senior year outdoor season.


What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome? 

Being confident in my ability, and trusting myself and training.

What will you miss the most? 

The teammates who have become my brothers and the amazing motivation by my coaches.

What advice you would give to younger athletes? 

Enjoy all the practices, the team dinners, the time in the weight room, and all the hard workouts because soon enough they'll be over. 

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

My coach has influenced me so much in my goals in showing me that I'm capable of running at a higher level of college and beyond that. 


What are your college plans? 

I'm attending University of Connecticut to run track and field, and more specifically focus on the decathlon. 

Who would you like to say thank you to? 

A big thank you to my parents for always pushing me to do my best, bringing me to meets around America, and always being my biggest supporters.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Watch out for Jarett Flaker... kid is going places
