Salute to Seniors: Adelaide Cooke (Falmouth High School)

Name: Adelaide Cooke

School: Falmouth High school

What was your most memorable race?

Anytime I ran a 800m. The pain was pretty memorable...

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

My biggest competition was Dajia and Sam in the throws.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

Helping the team win a state title last year. That was pretty cool!!

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I would have listened to my body more. Pushing through injury got me in trouble end of junior year.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Coming back from injury senior year. It was tough both physically and mentally, but I definitely learned a lot about myself during the season.

What will you miss the most?

The Falmouth throwing team. It's been a second family for me the past four years, and I'm going to miss all the members so much next year.

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Don't take track too seriously. You compete because you love it. Don't let it become hard work.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

They've supported and believed in me, even when I didn't believe in myself. Thanks to them, I get to continue to compete next year in college.

What are your college plans?

I'm going to UAlbany to run track and study biology.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

My parents (of course) because I wouldn't be the athlete or person I am today without them. My coaches for always supporting me on and off the track. My teammates for being the best, and for my fellow competitors for pushing me. Oh and my brother, Douglas, because I can still beat him in the throws!

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Track is a sport. Don't let anyone tell you differently.
