Tell us how your summer training is going?

My summer training has been fairly light. I'm trying not to overdo it before the season has even begun. So far it's just been long runs and tempo runs.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

My goals for the upcoming season are for my team to possibly claim the Class A title again and to PR, maybe even break the 19 minute range.

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

have been running for 4 years this upcoming fall. I started cross country in 7th grade because I wanted to do a sport that was both affordable and, what I thought would be, easy to do. After finishing that season, I just continued running throughout indoor and outdoor.

What's a typical training week like?

Once the season starts, a typical training week consists of usually two long runs, one or two tempo workouts, and one or two VO2 workouts.

What is your favorite workout?

Not going to lie I don't really have a favorite workout, a workout is a workout. But one that I feel is most beneficial to me are 800 repeats.

What is your favorite course to run in Maine?

My favorite course to run in Maine is the Belfast course. It's a very fast course and I've had a lot of good memories on that course.

What is the toughest course to run in Maine?

The toughest course in Maine is Twin Brook, without a doubt.

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?

Out of all my running accomplishments, the one that stands out most is the 2016 XC Class A state championship. After the results of what happened at the Regional Championship the week before, my team felt a lot of stress and self doubt. However, in the end, we were able to pull through as a team and win the State Championship.

What do you love most about running?

What I love most about running is all the amazing people and competitors in the running community. Everyone is so supportive of each other and has a mutual understanding of the pain we go through during our run.

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

My favorite thing to do is binge watch a show, usually Friends.

Do you have any pre-race rituals or routines?

always have to listen to music before I run, always. It really calms me down and puts me in the right mindset.

Favorite quote?

"One moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory." - Louis Zamperini

What was the last movie you saw and what did you think of it?

The last movie I watched was Spider-Man: Homecoming and I loved it. Was really intense, had great actors, and had Tom Holland.

What shoes do you race/train in?

I train in Gel-Contend 4 Asics and race in the Kilkenny xc5 Saucony spikes.

What professional athlete would you most like to meet?

I would most like to meet Shalane Flanagan, holder of the American record times in the 3k, 5k, and the 15k road race.

What is something that most people don't know about you?

Something about me most people don't know is that I am half Japanese.

Lastly, if you were stranded on an island with three things what would they be?

Three things that would be with me on the island are a large package of plastic water bottles, a radio, and my watch.
