The girls team title came down to the last event, and in the end it was the team that didn't have an entry in the 4x400 that ended up winning the meet. The Red Storm of Scarborough didn't have a relay in the final event but held a slim 2 point lead with 100 points. Thornton Academy & Cheverus were just 2 & 3 points behind. Cheverus would be the only team out of three to score, as they finished 7th to tie TA for the runner-up trophy.


For the Red Storm, junior Molly Murnane lead the way as she swept the senior sprint events. Murnane broke her own league record in the 55m dash clocking a state leading and Maine all-time #9 mark of 7.27. She held off a strong challenge from Annah Rossvall of Deering 60.35 to 60.54 to win the 400 before closing her individual events out with a 26.27 win in the 200m.

Scarborough also got wins from Emily Labbe in the junior 55m hurdles as the sophomore clocked 8.75 to cross the line first, she was followed by classmate Madison Marinko (9.06). Marinko added 8 more points in the junior long jump as she leapt out to 16-4.

Adding to the point total for the champions was sophomore Anna Gardner who finished 2nd in the pole vault for 9-6, she added a key 4th place finish in the junior high jump.


Cheverus was paced by standout sprinter Emma Gallant who added three individual wins & records plus a relay victory. Gallant won the 55m in a time of 7.43 a new league record. Gallant broke her own SMAA record in the junior 400m clocking 59.22 a state leading mark. She would come back to break the junior 200m record with a time of 26.05. In each race Gallant was pushed by freshman teammate Victoria Bossong who finished second in all three race. In the 400m Bossong clocked the state #2 time in the event with her 59.38. In the 200m her 26.18 time ranks her #2 in Class A. The duo combined for 54 individual points, they combined to added 10 more with a victory in the open 4x200m relay (1:49.89).

Thornton Academy got a win in the junior long jump by Mia Taranko as the sophomore jumped a seasonal best 16-7. Noelle Michaud added 10 more points with her 32-11 1/4  winning effort in the senior shot put. The Trojans got runner-up performances from Sabria Merrifield in the senior 55m (7.58), Allie Gross in the senior high jump (5-2), & Noelle Conlon (4-10) in the junior high jump.

Westbrook's Nyagoa Bayak added a pair of wins on the day. Bayak took the senior high jump with a jump of 5-6, she took some very close attempts at 5-9. She added another victory in the senior triple jump witha  leap of 37-2 1/4.

Windham's Sierra Guite was a double winner as she won the junior high jump (4-10) & the junior shot put 32-3 1/4.

Gorham dominated the 4x800 as the Rams clocked a state leading 9:52.20. While Bekah Robertson of Biddeford jumped a personal best and state #2 9-6 to win the pole vault.
