The Greely boys joined the girls atop the podium at Bates College on Saturday as the Rangers won the program's first state title since 2009, and fifth overall.

Like the girls the distance runners lead the way as they contributed 43 of the 68 points the Rangers tallied.

Right off the bat the distance runners showed they were ready as they dominated the 4x800 relay by eight seconds to put ten points on the board.

While that was going on junior Nicolas Brown was having the best jumping day of his season as he cleared a personal best 6-0 to finish second overall.

Matthew Todd saw his twin sister win the mile, and he went out and added his own title as he kicked away from the field over the last two laps to break the tape in a time of 4:40.32. He would add a fifth in the 800m later.

In the two mile the Rangers put the meet away as they went 2-3-4 for eighteen points. Junior Luke Marsanskis led the way with his 10:32.81, freshman Sam Wilson 10:36.04 followed in third while senior Caleb Thurston 10:37.39 was next in fourth.

Greely closed the meet out with an a win in the 4x200m as they clocked 1:38.28.

Runner-up John Bapst's was led by senior Ben Cotton who won the 55m dash in a time of 6.75, in that race he overcame a stumble at the start. Cotton also added another win the long jump with a leap of 21-5 1/4. He added a runner-up finish in the 400m.

Hermon's Zach Beaton won three individual titles for thirty individual points. Beaton won the high jump with a 6-2 clearance, then took the 55m hurdles in a time of 7.97, before finishing it off with a personal best 42-9 1/4 in the triple jump

Luke Laverdiere of Yarmouth defended his two mile title easily as the Harvard bound senior ran 9:35.31 to win the event by 57 seconds.

In the closest race of the day, Matthew Concannon of Cape Elizabeth edged Johann Gerling of Brewer in the 200m as both athletes were timed in 23.32.
