State Champion Spotlight: Dominic Creenan (Westbrook HS)

State Champion Spotlight: Dominic Creenan (Westbrook HS)

What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?

Going into the meet I I wanted to make sure I was hydrated and had a good nights rest.

What was one thing that you focused on this winter that made a difference in your performance?

My thoughts throughout the season was to just give it all I had because it was my last indoor season of high school so I wanted to go out with a bang.

You jumped 22 feet on your final attempt in the long jump to win the title, similar to last year where you pr'd on your final jump, how are you able to jump your best when it matters the most?

During the long jump when I was in second with one jump left and a lot of thoughts were running through my mind. I'd jumped nearly 22 feet in the past and that's about what I had to do if I wanted to win, so I knew I could do it, that's mainly what I think about to give me an extra boost of confidence.

What's it mean to you to be able to win two events at the state meet?

Winning two events at states was more than I could ask for, I knew I could do it if I was having a good day and executed well.

Coming into the season what were your goals and did you achieve them?

Coming into states I was only really focused on hurdles and was just trying to lower my time. I didn't quite get it but I was right there so I'm happy that I was consistent at the end of the season.

What have your coaches meant to your success? Your a senior how is your college search going?

I'm glad that I have the coaches I have, because they really know what they're doing and always very supportive and encouraging. I most certainly wouldn't have been able to have as good a season as I did without them.

Have you limited down your choices or know where your going yet for college?

For college I have it rounded down but may still look at other places.
