Bel Air senior Kieran McDermott broke the Maryland state meet record on Saturday in the open 800 with a US #10 1:50.90 victory in the 3A boys for his 5th career individual state title. Prior to that historic performance, McDermott showed what he is capable of running on Friday in the 3A boys 4x800 meter relay.


Taking the relay baton in 4th place and roughly 4 seconds behind, McDermott quickly ate up that difference with a 52 second first 400 en route to an incredible anchor leg split of 1:49.1 to led the Bel Air boys to a 7:55 victory and qualifying for New Balance Nationals.
