The SMAA Relays running a week earlier than normal had a new venue at the Narragansett School in Gorham this year. With the new setting also came a format change as there was a race for each grade instead of match races.

Starting things off was the boys freshman race, and Scarborough's Zach Barry went to the front early and never looked back. Berry got to the mile just in front of Massabesic's Jesse Cadigan then shifted gears to pull away for a 23 second advantage as he stopped the clock at 7:45 for the 1 1/2 mile course. Cadigan followed in 8:08, while Biddeford's Chris Walton rounded out the top three with an 8:25 effort.

The sophomore race was led by Kennebunk's Garrett Erickson-Harris at the mile with Scarborough's Erik LoSacco & Elijah Karecki of Massabesic in his slipstream.

LoSacco hit the after burners once he reach the field and a little less than 800m to go as the lanky sophomore pulled away to win in 7:53, Erickson-Harris held on for second in 8:02 with Karecki taking third in 8:10.

In the junior race the Coffin twins of Scarborough went to the front early and ran stride for stride with each other for the entire 1.5 miles, both athletes were clocked in identical 7:29 efforts, with Tristram getting the edge at the line via a lean over Connor. Those times were the fastest on the day.

Kennebunk's Ethan Eickmann ran a strong race to finish third overall in 7:40, his effort tied for third best combined time on the day.

The senior boys race raced turned out the be one of the best of the day as the top five were separated by just seven seconds. At the mile Jeffery Waters of Massabesic assumed the lead with Mason Rosborough of Windham and Joe Harrington of Portland right on his heels while a couple of strides back of them was Harrison Osborne of Scarborough and Sam Mills of Biddeford.

Everyone would try to get by Waters by he had to much in the tank and wouldn't be denied the win as he clocked 7:40 to win by 1 second over a hard charging Osborne. Mills closed well for third in 7:43 with Harrington 7:45, & Rosborough 7:47 rounded out the top five.
