SMAA meet recap: Thornton Academy girls

The top two teams in the SMAA squared off in the season opener as the host team Thornton Academy Trojans took on the visiitng rival Scarborough Red Storm, with Deering & Marshwood also competing. The Red Storm came away with a 116-101.5. There were several new state leaders on the day. Nicole Kirk (Scarborough) ripped a new leader in the 200m 26.6. While Hannah Wiley (TA) opened with a very impressive 46.4 in the 300m hurdles, the top time in the state by over 3 seconds! In the discus, Holy Cross bound senior Christy Manning (Scarborough) unleashed a huge throw of 133-0, this added 17+ ft to her state leading distance. In the girls 4x400 Scarborough clocked a new state leader 4:21.7, with Thornton clocking the #2 time 4:24.4  RESULTS
