Nicole Kirk (Scarborough)-200 comes in the #1 seed after her Southwesterns meet record of 25.28, Kirk is the defending state champion and Class A record holder @ 25.49. The All-time state best is 25.06

Erzsebet Nagy (Lawrence)-800 Top time came last week in winning the KVAC title in record fashion, 2:16.27, the existing record of 2:15.6 could be challeneged.

Sarah Perkins (Gorham)-300IH Perkins showed her championship form last weekend winning the SMAA title in record time 44.49, the year old state meet record of 44.67 is in danger of being smashed. Perkins will take a run at the All-time state best of 43.94

4x100m Relay- Edward Little has run under 50 2x times, seed time 49.73, state meet record is 49.65 set last year by Scarborough

Races to watch
400m- Sophomore Teal Jackson of Brewer busted a 57.39 last week to win the PVC Championship, she'll be pushed to the line by Scarborough's Emily Tolman 58.16. They be chasing the All-time state best and Class A state meet record of 57.17.

1600m 3x champ Abbey Leonardi will have her hands full with #1 seed Erzsebet Nagy who had run 4:58.23, Leonardi who was injured earlier in the year, hasn't run the times she has in the past but she's a champion and will give it everything she has in the tank to bring home her 4th straight 1600m title.

Big News distance standout Emily Durgin of Cheverus not entered in the meet

Scarborough's Andrea Tolman is entered in the meet she's been out with a hamstring injury, she could provide the Red Storm a big spark

Intense team battle for the title with a handful of teams with a shot for glory

Return of injured athletes could play a key role- Cheverus sprinter Jackson McMann missed the SMAA championship with an ankle injury. Bonny Eagle star Tyson Goodale hasn't competed in almost a month but is entered in the 110m hurdles, long jump & will run on the 4x100.

Keys for Gorham- Racewalk where they are seeded for 15 points, Kyle Nealey in the shot & discus, Brandon Cushman in 300m hurdles, Jesse Orach 1600 & 3200m


Keys for Cheverus- Strong relays the Stags have a shot to win all 3. Matt Cushing Javelin, Brady Foshay 800m & Jimmy Campbell 400m.


Keys for Sanford- Alex Shain long jump,triple jump & 100m, Dan Webb-400m & 200m, Bryant Perkins-3200m & the 4x100m & 4x400



Races to Watch

400m- Alex Nichols (Brunswick) broke 50 for the first time last week 49.91 he'll match up against Biddeford Sophomore James Ociti who also went under 50 last week, 49.98. Jimmy Campbell of Cheverus is the sleeper with a 50.32 seed time

300m Hurdles- 7 guys seeded under 42 in this race led by Jermey Collins of Bonny Eagle 39.84. This race isn't just one to watch because of the top talent but because so many of the contending teams have at least 1 threat to nab a scoring place.

800m- This should be one heck of a race with Mitchell Black of Brunswick 1:58.18 & Cheverus's Brady Foshay 1:58.98 coming in with sub 2 seed times. Watch out for David Correale of Bangor & Trey Williams of Brewer who have been running the 400/800 double most of the season, and now with just one race how fast can they go?

Shot Put- 4 guys over 50ft with defending state champ Bryan White has come on strong the last 2 weeks, Kyle Nealey of Gorham is peaking at the right time as well, he fired off several pr's last week in finishing behind White at the SMAA champs. Rudy Pandora of Lewiston & indoor champ Jared Bell are the other 50fters.

Record Watch
100m hurdles- Alex Jenson (Waterville) broke through the 15 second barrier last week running 14.87 to win the KVAC title, the Class B record is 14.72


100m Kate Hall (Lake Region) has the fastest time in the state this spring with her 12.34, the Class B record is 12.38 set by Waterville's Georgia Bolduc who is also in the race.


1600m Racewalk- Kerry Cummings (Morse) seed time o 7:34.70 is faster than the Class B of 7:36.32 set 3 years ago by Hannah Saunders (Caribou)


1600m- The Class B record of 5:01.1 is danger of being shattered by Waterville's Bethanie Brown who has run under 5 several times this spring including her best time of 4:51.84 which just missed the Maine All-time best.


400m- Corinn Bedell (Fryeburg) dropped a bomb last week to win the WMC title in a Maine All-time best tying mark of 57.17, she'll be aiming to get the Class B mark of 58.0 held by the #2 seed in the race Kaitlin Saulter(Hermon)


300m Hurdles- Defending champion Olivia Thurston seed time 45.41 is just fraction of a second of the Class B record of 45.36 set by former Greely star Abby Diehl back in 2008. Thurston is the defending champion in the event.


800m- Aleta Looker (Ellsworth) has the 800m record of 2:17.83 in her sights, Looker's top seed time is 2:18.38. Looker has a personal best fo 2:16.04 in the event


Long Jump- 17-8 1/4 is the Class B record set way back in 1982, Kate Hall of Lake Region best jump this spring has been 17-9


3200m Cassie Hintz (Old Town) 10:39.43 set in 2004 is the record, Bethanie Brown has already run 10:32.90 this spring, she'll be looking to add her name to the record books



Athletes to Watch

Kate Hall- Hall missed her conference championship last weekend with a quad injury which could derail her title hopes. Hall won 3 individual titles indoors, and will be looking to add to her total. Kate has the fastest 100m time in the state at 12.34. Hall is also the #1 seed in the 200m @ 25.64 & also is ranked #1 in the long jump 17-9, a mark which is also a state leader.

Bethanie Brown- Brown will make a shot at running some fast times, she is just off the Maine all-time best at 1600m, and has a shot to break the 1600m Class B state meet record. Brown is seeded 20 faster than the #2 seed in the 1600m

Jenna Serunian- Serunian of Falmouth is the #1 seed in the shot put & discus. The senior headed to Northeastern is peaking at the right time as she gains confidence back in her knee which kept her out all last year (ACL tear)

Alex Jenson- Jenson is the top seed in the 100m hurdles & the triple jump. Alex always is the #2 seed in the long jump



Event to Watch
400m- Corinn Bedell versus Kaitlin Saulter. Bedell equalled the Maine AT best of 57.l7 in winning the WMC title will square of against the defending champion and record holder Saulter, who has run a best of 58.34. How fast can these girls go? Can we the first sub 57 performance?

Record Watch
Nick Danner (Waterville) is seeded with a state leading 190-2 in the javelin, that mark is superior to the existing state meet record of 179-1, Danner should be pushed by Yarmouth's Chris Knaub who threw 179-7 last week to win the WMC title.



Athletes to Watch


Denzel Tomaszewski (Wells) 11.12 is the top seed in the 100, the 55m indoor champ will look to win his first outdoor title, the Class B record of former Wells sprint star Justin Vigeant (11.0) is within reach. Denzel is also the #3 in the 200m, 22.97

Caleb Pease (Camden Hills) is coming off a great performance at the KVAC meet last week, where he clocked a state leading 22.56 in the 200m. Pease enters the meet with 11.15-100m (#2 seed), 50.68-400m (top seed), 22.56 (#1 seed).


Will Shafer (Gray New Glocuester) set a big personal best in the 1600m last week to win the WMC title, Shafer time of 4:19.76 is the fastest in all 3 classes this spring. Their is an outside shot the sophomore can make a run at the 4:16.38 Class B record of Former Belfast & Georgeton Unibersity star Levi Miller. Shafer also is the top seed in the 800m with a 1:57.8, his time is also the state leading mark.


Events to Watch
Discus & Shot Put- Yannick Price-Prevot (Medomak Valley) & Nick Margitza (Waterville) look to lock up in a battle in both event as they are seeded 1-2 in eachs. Price-Prevot has a state leading mark of 150-8 which he threw last week to in the KVAC title over Margitza. In the shot put Margitza is the top seed with a state leading 53-5 3/4 to his credit this spring. Margitza defeated Price-Prevot last weekend to win the KVAC title.

Bri Crisci (Hall-Dale) Crisci is the the #1 seed in the 100m 12.83, #1 seed in the 400 60.97, #1 seed in the 200m 26.91

Abby Weigang (Orono) Weigang a freshman is the top seed in the 300m hurdles, while she is the #2 seed in the 100m hurdles, pole vault & 4x100

Diana Tyutyunnyk (Orono) The freshman is the top seed in the long jump 16-10, Diana #2 seed in the 100m, #3 in the 200m, as well as on the #2 ranked 4x100 team

Abby Mace (Maranacook) Mace the defending 1600m & 3200m champion is the favorite the repeat in both events, her time of 5:09.48 is almost 18 second faster than the #2 seed. In the 3200m her time of 11:13.64 is 38 seconds faster than the #2 seed

Ruth Towne (Seacoast) Towne has the top seeds in both the shot & discus, her marks are 34-11 & 105-11

Record Watch
1600m- Former Falmouth & Georgetown U runner Brandon Bonsey has the record with a 4:18.51, Can McClitnock break 4:20 and get the record? You can bet that he;ll be going for it, he;s never one to shy away from a fast time. Last week he set a personal best 4:21.42

3200m- Another race another record attempt for McClintock who comes in Maine #1 at 9:18.58, the record set by the great Scott Roberts (Maranacook) back in the 1986 with a standard of 9:30


Athletes to watch


Matt McClintock (Madison) McClintock looks primed to win the 1600m & 3200m again. He holds a state leader in the 3200m. Matt is the defending champion in both events. He is also the #2 seed in the 800m

Taylor Watson (Maranacook) Watson is the top ranked 110m hurdler, his time of 15.34 leads the entire state. He is also the #2 seed in the 300m hurdle 40.70, last year he won the event in 40.71

Tyler Fitzgerald (Hall-Dale) Fitzgerald is the top seed in the 100m @ 11.21 where he is the defending champion, Tyler is also the #4 seed in the 200m & the long jump, as well as the #6 in the 400m

Miguel Caballero (Orono) Caballero is the top seed in the 400m 51.88, he will be looking to defend his title. Miguel is also the top seed in the 200m 23.14, he won the event in 22.94 last year. He is also  the #1 seed in the long jump 21-5 3/4 and is #2 seed in the 100m 11.24

Morgan Reeves (Lisbon) Reeves is the top seed in the triple 41-10 1/4, the #2 seed in the long jump and event he is the defending champion in. Morgan is also the #2 seed in the pole vault
