Salute to Seniors: Chase Brown

Salute to Seniors Chase Brown Boothbay HS

What was your most memorable race?

My most memorable race is the 2010 MVC championship because I beat Matt M and won in 16:22 on a tough 5k course.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?

My best academic accomplishment was being salutatorian of my class and my best athletic accomplishment was being All New England in XC.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

No regrets.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

I had to overcome some sickness and some minor injuries mostly not caused by running, but mostly in my HS career I just cruised.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss Nick Scott who is a great coach/mentor/friend. I will miss the Maine running community and the many runners I have gotten to race and know.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Ask yourselves what you really want. Then go after it. Do whatever it takes to make your goal become reality. Whether this is a running goal or not, if you don’t work your very hardest you will regret it.

What are your college plans?

I will attend Colby College. I am undecided for a major, but I am going to run. For a possible career I might peruse being a college XC coach. I really like the running community; I would always be happy if my job was to be around runners.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

A big thanks to my parents, teammates, coach, the Boothbay community, the Maine running community, the MaineTrackXC website, and many other people that have contributed to my successes.
