Class C defending champion Henry Spritz is the top returner from last fall. Spritz ran the best race of his career at states last year posting an outstanding 17:01.67 at Twin Brook to win. He'll be the one everyone is chasing this fall.
Last year's third place finisher Jonathan Steelman has moved south to South Carolina to join his family for his senior season, a big blow for the Red Riots.
Maranacook's Luke Bartol will be looking to improve on his fourth place effort from last fall. Bartol was ninth in the 1600m at the state meet outdoors.
Jonesport Beals Evan Merchant was right on Bartol's heels at states finishing less than a second behind him as the senior ran 17:46.55. He has shown steady improvement every fall going from 37th as a freshman to 16th as a sophomore, and was 8th last fall as a junior.
Caden Mattson of George Stevens Academy had a great sophomore season as he finished 14th overall running 18:16.02 at the state meet. He's the fourth fastest returner this fall looking to make the top ten and maybe even the top five this fall.
Boothbay's Blake Erhard is the fifth returner from last year's state meet. He clocked 18:24.86 finishing 16th. He will be looking for his first top ten state meet finish this fall, so far he's placed 32nd, 17th, & 16th in his three previous races.
