Records Fall at Class A State Meet. A total of 5 state meet records fell as the Scarborough boys won their third title in a row, while the girls meet ended in a tie with Cheverus & Scarborough.
NORTH BERWICK, Maine – Repeating would be great, but Ethan Beaulier wanted more. The Noble High School senior won a state championship in the boys 55-meter dash in 2012 and came within an whisker of tying the Maine record. That’s all the motivation an elite sprinter needs. (via www.fosters.com)

The Bangor girls erased several years of near misses to win the school's first ever indoor state title at USM on Monday. The Rams held on for the 70.5 to 70 win over runner-up Thornton Academy. On the boys side Scarborough made it three in a row with a 61-57 win over runnner-up Cheverus. Brunswick's Alex Nichols set the state meet record in the 400m (49.93), while Ethan Beaulier equaled the record in the 55m (6.60), & the Cheverus 4x200 shattered the record with a 1:32.96, also good for the all-time state best. On the girls side Deering's Edie Pallozzi set the 800m record with a 2:17.27. Check out the rest of the action.

NORTH BERWICK, Maine — Ethan Beaulier knew it as soon as he shot out of the blocks. Less than seven seconds later, he was a state champion. The Noble High School junior won the Maine Class A championship in the 55-meter dash at the state indoor meet in Gorham on Feb. 20, missing out on a state record by one one-hundredth of a second. The Scarborough boys won their 3rd straight Southwestern Maine Conference title scoring 155 points to edge out runner-up Gorham (122). Cheverus finished 3rd overall. More to come later including race videos, photos & results

The Bonny Eagle Scots continued to be the team to beat in Class A boys action this spring, the Scots took the SMAA meet on their home turf this afternoon against Deering, Noble & Westbrook. Leading the way for BE was Christian Malarsie in the 1600m RW, Malarsie clocked 7:08.10 for a new Class A leading performance.
