KVAC meet recap: Edward Little Derek Veilleux May 16, 2010

When two of the top track and field teams matchup it usually ensures so top performances, and that was the case Friday when Class A power Edward Little matched up with Class B power Waterville. In the 110m Erskine's Jake Roberts hurdles his way to the #2 time in the state, and top performance in Class B 15.73. In the 100m dash, Waterville's Isiah Spofford broke the school record, clocking the #2 time in Class B 11.33, impressive considering Spofford has been out with mono. Spofford teamed with three others to rip a 45.03 in then 4x100, the #2 time in the state.On the girls side Abby Dunn (EL) lowered her state leading 1600m race walk time down to 7:33.66. The Waterville girls 4x100 clocked a state leader with their 51.53. In the 4x400 relay EL girls carried the stick to a new state leader 4:15.2. The girls tripe jump was very deep with Waterville's Lynn Fleming winning with a 35-11 jump which is also the best jump in the state this spring, 5th place was 34-2. Katherine Harmon (EL) launched the discus out to 119-3, #3 state wide, #2 in Class A.  The top shot putter in the state Waterville's Natasha Griffin added 7+ inches to her state leader, 38-0 1/2.  Teamwise EL girls 139 over Waterville 119 1/2 , and on the boys side 138- Waterville 74.
