The postseason is officially here! The Northern and Southern Regional championships went off on Saturday. The North headed to Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast, while the South went to the Twinbrook Recreational area in Cumberland. Both regions produced close finishes and great individual performances. Let's take a look at the highlights.

Conference championships around the state highlighted the weekend in Maine XC. We had several of the top teams in the state battle it out at the KVAC Championships, while some of the top runners rested for the WMC Championships. A course record went down in the PVC and there were dominant team finishes in the MVC. Let's take a look at the highlights.

WMC XC Championship Preview Sam Bonsey Oct 12, 2017

The WMC Championships are set to go off Friday afternoon at St. Joseph's College in Standish. The Yorkgirls' won the Division 1 title last year, while Falmouth, who is no longer in the conference, took the boys' title. In Division 2, the St. Dominic girls' and Wells boys' were winners. 

Mitch Morris of Cape Elizabeth & Katherine Leggat-Barr rule the roost in WM Class B Derek Veilleux Oct 27, 2014

Mitch Morris of Cape Elizabeth went to the front from the gun, and pulled away for good after the mile as he triumphed by 26 seconds to win the Class B WM regional title, York used great quality depty to win the team title by 20 points. On the girls side Katherine Leggat-Barr ran the fastest tie fo the day, 19:46 to win the individual title, but it was Yarmouth with 4 runners in the top 7 to win the team title.

Falmouth opens with a statement Tim Even Aug 30, 2014

Things got under way today for several of the top teams in Western Class A and B at Community Park in Falmouth. Massabesic's Michael Aboud took the boys 2 mile race in 11:05, while Marshwood's Maddy Doyle edged Falmouth's Vishva Nalamalapu 13:31 to 13:32. Falmouth easily was the best team on both the boys & girls side.

The Maine Running Company XC Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #5. On the girls side Heather Evans of York was selected as the winner for her 18:57, 2.9 mi effort at Kennebunk, while the boys winner was Aaron Willingham of Mt Blue for the 2nd time this fall for his course record run at the Mt Blue Relays.

Falmouth & NYA Boys | Cape & Yarmouth Girls win WMC titles/Eastman & Evans claim individual titles Derek Veilleux Oct 7, 2010

The Falmouth Boys & Cape Elizabeth Girls won the Div 1 WMC conference titles, while the Yarmouth Girls & NYA boys claimed the Div 2 titles at Falmouth Community Park this afternoon. The individual boys winner was Silas Eastman (Fryeburg) while on the girls side freshman Heather Evans (YORK) claimed the title. YORK — The York High School boys' cross country team began their 66th season with a quick 6.6-mile run to Short Sands, around the Nubble Light House, along Long Sands and back to the track. Rand smashes course record- Greely Boys/Cape Girls dominate teams Derek Veilleux Sep 5, 2008

The story of the day was the record breaking performance of Cape Elizabeth senior Matt Rand, as he broke Miles Bartlett's course record by 5 seconds, running a 15:20.4 over the fast 3 mile course. Greely dominated the boys team race putting 3 guys in the top 5. While the Cape Elizabeth girls lived up to their #1 ranking in the coaches poll, scoring only 19 points to win against some strong competition.
