Salute to Seniors: Teal Jackson (Brewer HS)

Teal Jackson- Brewer HS

What was your most memorable races? The race against Sara Perkins indoor my junior year in the 400. It was a very competitive race and pushed me. It was so close and fun

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most? Out of high school my academic accomplishments along with balancing the clubs I do and my job and sports. Out of track it would be the 2 state records in the 400; because i worked hard for it.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school? I would go back my freshman year and do indoor track instead of basketball

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome? The most difficult obstacles was controlling my nerves when it came to meets. I ended having a routine before each race to help.

What will you miss the most? I will miss my teammates the most. I have gotten to know some great people through track and my teammates are part of what made track so enjoyable

What advice you would give to younger athletes? That everything you do, do to the best of your ability, sometimes you will be surprised what you can accomplish. Hardwork pays off and will be a reward on its own.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals? My coach always pushed me to do my best and helped teach me not to limit myself. I think that concept will help me achieve in track as well as later in life

What are your college plans? I am attending Wesleyan College in West Virginia. I will be majoring in psychology and am participating in the track program at the school.

Who would you like to say thank you to? I would say thank you to my coaches Dan Juilli and Mr. Holyoke for having showing support for every member on the track team and influencing me to love the sport of track. I have learned so much from these to people and truly value them. I would also thank my mother, grandparent and brother for always being at every meet and supporting me.
