                WILLINGHAM TOPS COURSE RECORD; COUGAR BOYS/EAGLES GIRLS WIN
 
   Mt. Blue junior Aaron Willingham lead a strong Cougar boys squad to victory at a home meet today as he bettered current UMO standout Kelton Cullenberg's course record of 17:17 with a time of 17:01 over the muddy, hilly 5K course in Farmington.
 
   Teammate Josh Horne was only 2 seconds off Cullenberg's time grabbing 2nd place.  Logan Moses of Messalonskee was 3rd (17:52) with Mt. Blue's Dan Lesko grabbing 4th place (18:03).  Messalonskee's Owen Concaugh and Emmitt Heath took the next two places, but Mt. Blue sewed up the win with Thad Gunther and Brenden Hickey capturing the next two spots.  Messalonskee's Kyle Howard and Carson Bessey rounded out the top 10.
 
   On the girls side, Messalonskee used their depth to gain a slim 28-30 team victory over Mt. Blue.  Mt. Blue's Sarah Wade earned her first high school victory with a time of 22:44.  Olivia Poulin of Messalonskee was 2nd in 23:07.  Mt. Blue's Katherine Gunther and Maggie Hickey took the next two places followed by Allison Fischang (Messalonskee), Chimene Goewey (MCI), Holly Wentworth (Messalonskee), Abigail Bergdoll (MCI), Katie LeBlanc (Lawrence) and Megan Noble (MCI).

Camden Hills Ben Trapani opened his season in fine form with a dominating victory at Winslow. Trapani covered the 3.2 mile layout in 17:27, good for a 28 second win over Chris Walfield of Morse.

VAC: Hampden, Brewer, Wtvl @ Bangor

The #5 ranked Bangor boys opened their season with a statement win over #12 Brewer 28-52. The Rams were paced by race winner Jonathan Stanhope who covered the 3.05 mile course in 16:08.82, holding off a strong effort from Caleb Lord of Hampden Academy who was 4 seconds back (16:12.87). Bangor had 5 of the top 9 finishers in race, averaging 16:57 for runners 1-5.

On the girls side unranked Hampden Academy had a strong day as they tallied 31 compared to runner-up Bangor's 54. The Broncos got a win from junior Elizabeth Labun, who crushed the rest of the field as she won by 52 seconds, 20:00.35. Erica Jenson of Waterville finished second, 20:52.63

Sam Wood & Nathan MacKenzie of Mt Ararat finished 1-2 to pace the Eagles to an easy team win over two strong teams Maranacook & Brunswick. Wood covered the difficult layout at Maranacook in a fine 17:49 clocking, he finished 14 seconds in front of his teammate MacKenzie.

The Brunswick duo of Teresa Murphy & Tessa Cassidy went 1-2, with Murphy 21:29 edging Cassidy by 10 seconds. Unranked Maranacook made a statement with a 47-49 win over #5 ranked Brunswick.
