Loring & Cadorette tune up for Regionals with CR's @ Westbrook

Results

On a new, deceivingly slow 5k course at Westbrook, Casey Loring and Ryan Cadorette were winners. On the girls side, Loring took it from the gun as she opened up in a blazing 6:05 first mile leaving Runnells of TA and Phelps of Westbrook to fight their own battle for second. Loring came in with a course record time of 19:41 as she looked smooth and in control the whole race. Going into next week, she is ranked among the top 5 individuals for Class A West.

The battle for second was a good one to watch as Phelps acted as Runnells shadow for the entirety of the race. Both ladies were stride for stride as they hit the final 10th of a mile, but it was Phelps of Westbrook who pulled away to earn the runner up position running a personal best of 20:06 while Runnells was 3rd in 20:12. South Portland took the team win with 28 points

On the guys side Ryan Cadorette ran to a strong 16:32 for yet another win of the season. Cadorette has won all of his SMAA league meets this season. While Cadorette ran free of traffic from the gun, Bouffard of Biddeford had to pull away from the chase pack as the meet went on. Bouffard started off in a pack with Tyler Jack and Amanual Sentayehu of Westbrook and Gavin Damien-Loring and John Salamone of SoPo.As the race reached the mile+ mark, he started to pull away with little issue as he cruised in with a solid time of 17:01. Tyler Jack picked up 3rd with a time 17:22. South Portland took the win with 38 points despite losing #1 runner Saad Zackaria to a nasty fall in the first 800m.
