MRC Performance of the Week: Shannon Conley & Jake Dixon

 

 

South Portland senior Shannon Conley won her 800m in a SMAA regular season meet last Saturday by 22 seconds. Her 2:26.88 is the fastest in the SMAA this winter, and the second fastest time in the state for the 2013-14. Conley a standout since her freshman year missed the 2012-13 indoor season while recovering from injury, this winter she has also run a 5:27.91 for the mile, good for 5th fastest in the state, and ranks second in the 2 mile with a 11:52.57 effort. She has helped her South Portland team to an undefeated season so far.

Sophomore Jake Dixon of Cheverus set a state leading mark at 200m in a SMAA regular season meet last Saturday, Dixon's time was a new indoor personal best of 23.48. The junior also has qualifying marks in the 55m (6.91m) & 400m (52.22) this winter, he currently ranks 5th in Class A in the 55m & 3rd in the 400m. Jake also runs a leg on the #1 ranked 4x200 which has run a best of 1:34.69 on the year. Last season Dixon was on the state record breaking 4x200m relay for the Stags.
