PVC/EMITL christen the new track at University of Maine

The first track meet at the brand-new University of Maine’s New Balance Field House was held today as the PVC/EMITL indoor league held two meets. The new facitlity originally scheduled to be finished in September was finally ready for comepition today. Not all the lines were able to be completed in time, athletes weren't allowed to wear spikes, and their were tape marks and cones used for the starting lines, the athletes were glad to be able to have a meet close to home.

Girls Highlights

Tia Jackson of Old Town was a triple winner, jumping a Class B #2 16-4 1/4 in the long jump then taking the high jump with a 5-0 clearance, & the 200m in 27.51

Aleta Looker of Ellsworth ran Class B #3 time of 62.06 in the 400m.

Boys Highlights

Ellsworth 4x800 ran Class B #2 performance of 8:44.26 for the win

Austin Comeau of Old Town was a double winner taking the 400m (55.29) & 200m (24.73)

Dan Curts won a pair of distance races as he took the mile in 4:32 then doubled back in the 800m 2:02.31 with a Class B #3 effort

Girls Highlights

Synclaire Tasker of Brewer won 3 events. Her 35-6 effort in the triple was a personal best, and improved her Class A leading mark. She also won the 55m hurdles in 8.90, and 200m in 27.68.

Angela Masters of Bangor ran Class A #3 in the 2 mile with a 11:50.56 to hold off Class A #4 Elizabeth Labun of Hampden Academy (11:52.04)

Tiffany Gray of Bangor took the win in the long jump with a Class A #2 16-7 1/2 leap, she jumped Class A #2 in the triple jump 34-10 3/4

 

Boys Highlights

Bangor won the boys meet 107 to 106 over cross-town rival Brewer.

Peter Manuel of Bangor returned to the track winning the 55m (7.01) & the 200m (24.13).

Bangor's Jon Stanhope was a double winner with a 2:04.70 800m, & 10:18.71 in the 2 mile.

Alec Wortman of Brewer jumped Class A #2 in the vault with a 12-6 clearance

Chapin McFarland of MDI won the shot with a throw of 47-11 1/4
