The Waterville girls rolled to their 4th straight Class B title on Monday at Bates College. The Panthers tallied 90 points to outdistance the runner-up Greely 64.5, York was third with 37.

Waterville got a pair of wins from junior standout Sarah Shoulta. Shoulta took the 55m hurdles in a personal best 8.76 as she took down defending state champion Ashleigh Roberts of Traip (8.82), she would clear 9-0 in the vault for the other.

Also winning for Waterville was Kellie Bolduc in the triple jump with a leap of 36-2 1/2 and shot putter Rachel Bergeron with a heave of 37-0 1/2.

Kate Hall of Lake Region continued her dominance in state meet competition as the junior added 3 more individual wins to her impressive resume, bringing her indoor total to 9 in 9 attempts. Today Hall set state records in all 3 events she contested. Starting it off with a 19-3 3/4 leap to smash her previous record of 17-11 1/2 set a year ago. In the 55m she broke the 7.13 record of Logan Crane twice, first in the trials running 7.11 then in the final clocking 7.05. In the 200m, Hall added win number 3 and record nu,ber 3 as she ran 25.38 to break her own 25.62 record from last year.

Old Town's Tia Jackson cleared a state leading 5-4 to win the high jump.

Greely's Kirsten Sandreuter won her first indoor individual title with her victory in the 2 mile, her winning time was 11:34.98. Sandreuter also ran a leg on the winning 4x800m relay.

Ellsworth's Aleta Looker was a double champion as the senior won the mile in 5:13.87 before taking the 800m in 2:23.46 to repeat as champion.

Cassidy Hill of Belfast ran 60.09 to win the 400m as she got bumped by down the home stretch but wasn't phased. She also was the runner-up in the 200m with a quick 26.42 clocking, that time is the state #2.

The Waterville boys team captured that elusive indoor team championship, as the Panthers dethroned York from the top spot as they tallied 61 to the Wildcats 40.

The meet didn't get off to the start Waterville was hoping for as they finished 4-5 in the long jump after coming in as the 2 & 4 seeds, the same happened in the shot put where they had the top seed but finished 4th. The mark of a championship team is the ability to move on the next event and put any previous disappointment behind you. The senior leaders of the team Troy Gurski & Jordhan Levine took control in the 55m hurdles as they finished 1-2 to get the ball rolling again for Waterville.  Gurski took the win in 8.09 with Levine 8.13 right behind. The duo would repeat the 1-2 finish in the triple jump as Gurski jumped 43-10 1/2 and Levine 43-5 1/4.

Waterville also got key points in the distance events from junior Chris Cote, who placed third in the mile (4:35.32) & fourth in the 2 mile (9:52.64).

Gray New Gloucester's Will Shafer came close to breaking the mile record as he dominated the race, Shafer's winning time was 4:20.38 over 10 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Ben Trapani. Shafer doubled back to win the 800m title (2:02.78) as he controlled the race from the front again.

NYA sprinter Michael McIntosh put his speed on display as he clocked a state leading time in the 55m dash 6.67 as he sped to victory. McIntosh also won the 200m in 23.26 coming from behind to edge Nicholas Boutin of Old Town by .04.

Belfast sophomore Drew Nealey won the pole vault with a state tying 13-6 clearance. His teammate Owen Falvey won the high jump, clearing 6-2.

Ellsworth distance ace Dan Curts anchored his 4x800 relay team to a come from behind victory, then ran a state leading 9:22.90 in the 2 mile to win going away.

MDI's Chapin McFarland was the upset winner in the shot put as he threw as a personal best 50-7 1/2.
