Oceanside's Preston Spear had the fastest time of 6.93 on the season in the Class B state meet prelims, he would go on to finish 6th in the final. Jesse Donisvotch of Messalonskee was the top sophomore at the Class A state meet with his 6.96, just in front of Windham's Eric Webb 6.97.
200m
Windham's Eric Webb was the top junior 200m runner in the SMAA this winter, he also clocked the fastest time of any sophomore 24.05 at the Class A state meet where he just missed getting on the podium with an 8th place finish. His time actually was tied with the 7th place runner but he lost out by hundrends of a second.
400m
TA's Dan Marsh was the only runner to break 54 seconds in the 400m for the Class of 2016, Marsh would go on to finish 8th in the Class A state meet just missing the podium.

Jeremy Richards of Westbrook had a strong state meet as he ran to a 7th place in the Class A state meet with a personal best 2:06.23, while Orono's Tristan Butterfield ran 2:06.68 to finish 5th in the Class B meet.

Mile
Osman Doorow in his first season of track led the way with his 4:36.69 at the Class A state meet to finish 3rd overall. In the Class B meet, Nick Harriman of Lisbon ran to a 5th place finish, while York's Rex Brockelman ran his way to a 7th. Scarborough's Colin Tardiff was the only other sophomore to break 4:40, with his 4:37.64.
2 Mile
Scarborough's Colin Tardiff was the only sophomore to break 10 minutes this winter, as Tardiff clocked 9:55.81 at the Dartmouth Relays. Injury ended his season early so he wasn't able to compete at the state meet. Lewiston's Osman Doorow ran to a 6th place finish in the Class A State meet, he had a best time of 10:11.75.

55m Hurdles
York's Matt Arsenault had a great run in the finals of the Class B state meet as he ran a personal best 8.29 to finish 3rd overall, the time was the fastest for the Class of 2016. Paulo Demarco of Deering ran a 8.34 in the Class A final which was good for a 6th place finish. Colt Santoro of York ran 8.62 in the Class B state meet to place 5th place. Griffin Madden of Scarborough made the final of the Class A state meet.

High jump
Belfast's Drew Nealey cleared a best of 6-0ft on the year the only one in the Class of 2016 to do so. Nealey cleared 5-10 at the Class B state meet to finish in a tie for 3rd. In Class A, Tony St. Angelo cleared 5-10 to finish in a tie for 7th.

Long Jump
Tony St Angelo was the only sophomore to jump over 20 ft on the year as he had a best of 20-4 1/2 mark. St. Angelo was also the top finisher at the Class A state meet with his 12th place 18-10 1/2 effort.

Triple Jump
There were only 2 triple jump state meet qualifiers this season. Drew Nealey of Belfast led the way with a 39-7 effort, he would finish 6th in the Class B state meet.

Shot Put
Trever Gray threw the furthest of any thrower this winter with his huge effort of 52-11, that mark ranked him 7th nationally for the class of 2016. Gray had an off day at the Class B state meet, and finished 5th. MCI's Curtis McLeod threw a personal best at the Class B state meet to finish 3rd. South Portland's Daniel Guiliani had his best effort at the state meet to place 7th in the Class A meet.
