Lisbon sweeps MVC titles for 9th time in a row

The 800m race proved to be a big one for the Lisbon Greyhounds as they had a 1-2-3 finish, good for 24 points. Lisbon would put up 121.5 points to edge runner Boothbay by 11.5 points, Carrabec was 3rd with 60. Adrianna White's took the win in 2:37.45 followed by Bree Sautter & Olivia Bulgin. The trio plus Mia Durgin also added win in the 4x400 relay to seal the 9th straight conference title for Lisbon. Durgin added the other win with a 6-6 clearance in the pole vault.

 

Boothbay's Sophia Thayer was the queen of the distance races as she swept the 1600m (5:43.46) & 3200 (12:40.35). In the hurdles Morgan Crocker of Boothbay was a double winner, first taking the 100m hurdles in 17.29 & 300m hurdles in 50.90 then she added a 3rd win in the triple jump with a leap of 34-5 1/2.

St Dominic's Faith Grady dominated the sprints as she took wins in the 100m (13.49) & 200m (28.58). Carrabec showed strength in the throws as Emma Pluntke won the shot (34-7.5), Shenciary Black won the discus (97-2) & Mercedes Welch completed the sweep in the javelin with a winning toss of (95-6)

Girls Highlights

 

Lisbon cruised to its 9th straight conference title on the boys side as the Greyhounds tallied 177 to outscore runner-up Madison (82) while Boothbay was 3rd (60). Lisbon got a pair of relay wins in the 4x100 & 4x400. Andrew Golino took first in the shot put (41-8) & discus (119-01) to provide 20 points while Jordan Glover added 10 more points in the long jump with a 20-5 effort.

Madison's Ron Helderman showed his skill, taking both hurdles race 110m (16.21) & 300m (42.58) then adding a 6-2 clearance to win the high jump before winning the pole vault in a new Madison school record of 13-0 1/2. The high jump & pole vault marks were new Class C leading marks.

Monmouth's Marques Houston had a great meet, he took 2 individual wins in the 200m (23.63) & 400m (52.45), and also anchored the winning 4x800.

Spruce Mountain's Alwayne Uter won the javelin (157-02) then added a win in the 100m (12.07)

Josef Andrews of Telstar won both the 1600m (4:25.21) & 3200m (9:30.73), both marks were new Class C state leading marks.
