D1 Girls

The Greely girls tallied 149 to win the WMC D1 team title over York (131), leading the way for the Rangers was distance standout Kirstin Sandreuter who scored 30 individual points. Sandreuter won the 1600m in 5:16.15, then the 800m (2:26.79) before finishing her day off with a 11:20.62 in the 3200m.

Greely got a pair of wins in the throws from Alyssa Casarez who won the shot put (33-7 1/2) & discus (107-0). Sophia McMonagle was a winner in the pole vault with a 8-0 clearance.

York's Lizzy Wagner won the 300m hurdles in a Class B #2 performance 47.84. Also for the runner-up Wildcats, the 4x400m relay team ran a state leading 4:15.02 to close out the meet.

Kate Hall continued her winning ways as she scored 40 individual points winning 4 events. Hall swept the short sprint with a 11.97 win the 100m, then a 25.59 in the 200m. Hall won the long jump and broke her own meet record with a 19-3 3/4. Kate also competed in the triple jump for the first time since middle school, and despite practicing just one day, won the event and set a meet record with a 36-6 1/4 effort.

Kennbunk's Shelby Strickland broke the meet record with a 5-5 clearance in the high jump.

 

D1 Boys

York and Falmouth had another close meet, but in the end the Wildcats prevailed with a 10.5 point victory. York got an impressive win in the 400m from Tucker Corbett (50.80) that time is the fastest in Class B. Jack Bouchard won the javelin throw by 37 feet when he chucked it out to 178-2, the distance is a state leading mark by almost 12 ft. Jack Neary added a win in the discus (132-0) & Christian O'Connor took the 1600m racewalk with a siub 8 effort (7:59.96). Nate Bald provided the other individual win for York with a 40-11 1/2 effort in the triple jump.

Gray New Gloucester's Zach Haskell won both short sprints, Haskell won the 100m (11.63) and then the 200m (23.59). Fellow teammate Will Shafer ran the state #2 time in the 800m (1:56.59) as he cruised to the win.

Falmouth got a pair of wins from Andy Clement in the hurdles, Clement ran 16.55 to take the 110's then came back to win the 300's in 42.49. The Yachtsmen won the 4x800 relay in 8:25.33, that time is Class A & state #2.

Cape Elizabeth's Mitch Morris won the 3200m in a Class B #2 performance (9:47.73), his time is also the 4th best in the state this spring.
 

D2 Girls

Traip Academy & Sacopee Valley girls meet was a barn burner that came down to the 4x400m relay. Sacopee had a 1 point lead over Traip, and in the end Traip finished 2nd one place in front of Sacopee to secure a 1 point victory. This was the 4th consecutive WMC D2 title for Traip.

Leading the way was Elora McCuddy who won the tough 400-800m double. McCuddy ran 59.74 to win the 400m & then ran 2:25.99 to take the 800m. She is the current Class C leader in both events. In the 100m hurdles Ashleigh Roberts led a 1-2 sweep for Traip with her winning effort of 16.20, Hannah Nightingale running 16.60. The duo is currently ranked 1& 2 in Class C. Jocelyn Lorrey added a win in the triple jump 33-1 3/4 and the 4x100m relay team was victorious as well with a 53.74.

Sacopee won three events, Anissa Dann (27-10.5) in the shot put, Hannah Manchester in the 1600m racewalk (9:52.77) & McKenzie Murphy in the 1600m (5:44.88) but showed great all around quality to challenge for the win.

Yarmouth's Emma Egan won four events the only athlete in D2 to accomplish the feat. Egan won the long jump with a 16-2 1/2 effort which is 3rd best in Class C, she added a 5-0 clearance in the high jump, then won the 100m (13.07) & 200m 26.87. The 200m time was a new state leader.

NYA's Hannah Austin won the 3200m in a Class C leading time of 11:41.28 as she won the race by over a minute. Teammate Muriel Adams had a 117-1 bomb on the discus to take the win, the throw is currently Class C & state #2 performance.

 

D2 Boys

Sacopee Valley cruised to the WMC D2 title amassing 149.5, 62 points in front of runner-up Freeport. Sacopee was lead by a pair of wins from jumper Ryan Moulton who wob the long jump with a 20-0 1/2 distance, he then won the triple jump with a huge 43-8 1/4 effort. Moulten win in the triple led a 1-2-3 finish, his distance is 2ft further than anyone else has jumped in Class C. River Bailey provided the only other win for Sacopee, he took the discus with a toss of 128-3.

 Yarmouth's Travis Hamre won the 200m in 23.43, that mark ranks him #2 in Class C entering the state meet. Teammate Ben Decker took the 1600m in a quick 4:30.61

Freeport's Harrison Stivers won the 400m in a strong time of 51.02, that mark has him ranked #2 in Class B.

NYA clocked the fastest time in Class C this spring 45.32 in winning the 4x100m relay. Matt Malcolm took the 3200m in a good race over Freeport's Chandler Vincent, Malcolm's winning time was 9:52.81 with Vincent finishing in a personal best 9:56.74.
