A record breaking day for Kate Hall as she adds 4 wins and 3 meet records, a new all-time state best for 400m, 56.95 by Kaitlin Saulter & Dan Curts runs 4:09.88 for 1600m a new meet record.

The Waterville Panthers won their 6th Class B title in the last 9 years, and second title in a row behind a 38 point effort from senior Jordhan Levine. Levine won both hurdle races taking the 110m race over teammate Troy Gurski, both were timed in indentical 15.46. In the 300m hurdles Levine was the class of field as he ran 40.54. Jordhan who finished 2nd in the long jump to Belfast's Marcus Riley avenge that in the triple jump as he got out to 44-0 1/4 to defeat Riley.

Waterville got important points in the throws from Trever Gray who was the runner-up in the discus, and fourth place in the shot. Distance runner Chris Cote provided a pair of 4th place finishes in the 1600m & 3200m. While Troy Gurski in addition to his runner-up finish in the 110m hurdles, scored 4th in the triple jump & 5th in the long jump

Ellsworth's Dan Curts had an impressive day in the distances, the Iowa State bound senior, swept the 1600m, 800m, 3200m. In the 1600m, Curts set off looking to break the state all-time best of 4:09.69, he set a strong pace going through the first 400m in 62.5 and first half in 2:06. Right behind Curts was Will Shafer of Gray New Gloucester nipping at his heels. The duo who battled at last years state meet where hooked up in another epic battle They hit the bell in 3:09-10, and neither was giving an inch until on the back stretch Curts started to pull away. Dan would cross the line in 4:09.88, a new Class B state record, and second fastest in state history, Shafer would run a persoal best 4:11.97. In the 800m it was another great race as Curts, Ben Trapani & Shafer went through the first 400 in 59, and then the real race began. With about 250 to go Curts moved to the front, and only Trapani went with him, onto the homstretch Curts was holding his lead, when Trapani made his final surge taking the lead with 50 meters to go, but Curts wasn't to be denied had the stregnth to battle back for the win, the times were 1:56.41 to 1:56.60. To close the day out Curts had his easiest race the 3200m, where he was never challenged as he clocked 9:42.51.

Nicolas Boutin of Old Town was dominate in the short sprints, Boutin won the 100m in 11.17, and followed that up with his second individual win in the meet as he ran 22.85 in the 200m. He also ran a leg on the winnign 4x100m relay, as the Coyotes 45.22.

York's Jack Bouchard won the javelin with a state leading 186-8 which was 16ft better than the runner-up.

Belfast's Drew Nealey won the pole vault equalling his best jump of the year with a 13-6 clearance, Nealey also scored in third the discus & high jump. Teammate Marcus Riley had a strong day as well, winning the long jump with a state leading 21-8 1/4, Riley was the state runner-up in the triple jump plus rana leg on the runner-up 4x100m team.

8 straight, yes that's streak of the Waterville girls of dominating Class B Outdoor Track & Field and hositing the championship trophy. The Panthers battled throughout the meet holding off a strong challenge from Greely but in the end they had what it took to stand atop the podium

Waterville was led once again by Sarah Shoulta, who has proven when it's a big meet she will find a way to win. Shoulta captured 3 individuals titles for the second consecutive season, she started the day off with a 15.44 win in the 100m hurdles, teammate Kellie Bolduc was the runner-up. Next up was the 300m hurdles where Sarah didnt enter the meet as the favorite based on times during the regular season, that meant nothing to Shoulta who won with a close battle over Camden Hills Melissa Kessel, 46.52 to 47.11. The third individual win came in the pole vault where she cleared 9-6 to lead a 1-2-3 sweep for the Panthers. Sarah also added a leg on the 4th place 4x400m relay.

Thrower Rachel Bergeron provided 18 key points to the title cause. Bergeron won the shot put with a state leading distance on 39-4 3/4. In the discus she finished 2nd with a distance of 104-10.

In the sprints senior Gabby Bridger entered the final of the 100m with the 7th fastest time from the trials, she moved up all the way to 3rd with a 13.23 clocking, she added a 3rd in the pole vault plus a leg on the 3rd place 4x100m relay.

The surprise of the day for Waterville was the runner-up finish by Lauren Brown in the 3200m, Brown was the 6th seed entering the meet but surpassed that to provide 8 key points, her time was a seasonal best 12:02.67

Greely was paced by distance ace Kristin Sandreuter who ran a state leadin 5:03.82 to win the 1600m. She would add abother win in the 3200m as she cruised to the win by over 30 seconds with her 11:31.71. Sandreuter also placed 3rd in the 800m.  The Rangers also got a strong performance from sophomore Alyssa Casarez who won the discus with a personal best 114-1, was the runner-up in the shot put 36-6 1/2, plus added a 4th in the pole vault & leg on the 4th place 4x100m. Sophomore high jumper Samantha Pynchon cleared 5-0 to finish second in the high jump.

Kate Hall added to her legacy with 4 more individual state titles, bringing her outdoor total 10, and overall 19 now including indoors. Not only did Hall win her events, she broke 3 state meet records in the process. Hall broke her own meet record in the trials of the 100m as she clocked 11.81, taking over .3 of second off her year old 12.12 effort. She would take the final in 11.83 over a second in front of the runner-up. In the long jump Hall soared out to a best of 19-0 1/2, again breaking her own year old record of 18-5 3/4. In the 200m, Hall oblierated her best ever at the distance as she clocked an all-time Maine state record of 24.36. Her previous best effort had been a 24.89. Her time also gave herthe Class B meet record as well, breaking the 25.2 of Lisa Kent. Hall concluded her day with a 36-5 1/2 effort to win the triple jump.

Hermon's Kaitlin Saulter closed her career in fine fashion as the senior set an All-Time Maine best & Class B meet record in winning the 400m dash in 56.95. Saulter the defending champin and meet record holder defending her title, and became the first Maine HS girl to break 57 seconds for 400m. Kaitlin also had a personal best 25.84 in the 200m to finish second, she also added a leg on the runner-up 4x100m relay team and helped the 4x400m team to a fifth place finish.
