Tell us how your summer training went?

My summer training went well. I went to a running camp in Craftsbury Common, Vermont which really boosted my training. Before Craftsbury, I had no idea how to really train, so I would just go out and run 5-6 miles at the same pace each day. Running camp gave me suggestions on how to properly train and made running more interesting during the summer.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

My goals are to stay healthy and to keep getting consistently faster throughout the season. Also, I want to run my best race of the season at the State meet and keep my nerves under control. Ideally, I would love to qualify for New Englands, but I’m not sure what to expect quite yet.

What sport did you switch from and why did you make the jump?

I played soccer last season which was great. However, I play basketball and lacrosse and so I thought it would be nice to do one individual sport. I miss soccer, but am really glad I made the switch.

What are you most looking forward to this fall in XC?

I am really excited to see how our team does. The most exciting part for me at the meet last Friday was to see many of my teammates do so well and to win the meet as a team. I love all of the girls, and it would be a dream come true to hopefully run in the New England meet all together.

After your first race, you have the fastest time in the state, is that a surprise, and do you think you can run faster?

Having the fastest time in the state for girls right now is awesome, but is definitely a surprise. I went into Friday’s race feeling good, and the race never seemed to feel too brutal. Twin Brook is a tough course, and the day was humid and hot, so I hope I will be able to run a faster time. I also know when I am running with someone just ahead or behind me in a race, it will push me even harder.

What shoes do you train in?

Asics Fluid Rides

What shoes do you race in?

New Balance Spikes

Favorite Post-race Meal?

My favorite meal after a race is something light with dessert. I have a huge sweet tooth! My ideal meal would be ginger chicken with rice and stir fry vegetables and a big bowl of ice cream with rainbow sprinkles.

Facebook , Instagram or Twitter?

Instagram or Twitter, even though I don’t have either.

Favorite song at the moment?

Black Widow or American Dream. Black Widow is a GREAT pump up song, and American Dream is a great song to calm the nerves before a race.

What professional athlete would you most like to meet?

Allyson Felix
