WILLINGHAM & GUADALUPI DOMINATE/HAMPDEN SWEEPS

Mt. Blue's Aaron Willingham and Dan Lesko ran away from the competition, but Hampden had the depth to capture the team win in a nine team cross country meet at Lawrence on Thursday. Willingham and Lesko blazed through the mile in 5:01 and continued to increase the gap over Hampden's duo of Caleb Lord and Paul Casavant as the race progressed.  Willingham eventually won in an impressive time of 15:58 with Lesko clocking in at 16:06.  Lord and Casavant both finished in 16:37.  Brunswick's John Murphy edged Cony's Andrew Levesque for 5th place.
  

Hampden topped the team standings with a score of 37, The remainder of the top five teams were Mt. Blue (54), Brunswick (66), Brewer (78) and Oxford Hills (163).


   On the girls side, Cony's Anne Guadalupi, Brunswick's Tessa Cassidy, and Hampden's Elizabeth ran together through the mile.  By the two mile it was just Guadalupi and Cassidy.  Guadalupi pulled away in the final 800 meters with a stunning time of 18:59.  Cassidy finished in 19:06 with Labun crossing the line in 19:29.  Mt. Blue's Maggie Hickey and Brunswick's Ruth Van Kampen rounded out the top five.
  

Hampden placed four runners in the top 14 to place first as a team with 54 points.  The rest of the top five teams were Brunswick (67), Mt. Blue (77),  Brewer (104), and Cony (117).
