Bowdoin Relays: Belfast edges Lewiston on boys side, Waterville girls 4 better than Greely

Belfast boys, Waterville girls best at Bowdoin Relays

The Belfast boys behind a dominating performance in the field events scored a 69-66 win over Lewiston to take top honors. Belfast set a meet record in the high jump as they had all three jumpers clear 6-0, leading the way was Levi Lapham who cleared 6-2, the state leading mark. In the pole vault junior Drew Nealey opened with an impressive 14-0 clearance to lead his squad to the win. The Lions also won the long jump plus got another win in the coed sprint medley.

Lewiston who battled throughout was hampered by a DQ in the 4x200 got wins in the sprint medley relay (2:39.75), the 4x800 (8:47.43) & the 4x55m Shuttle Hurdle relay (36.7)

Messalonskee was strong in the distance events as the Eagles won the 3xMile in 14:06.57, and came back to take the Distance Medley relay with a 11:40.04.

The Shot put was one of the best events on the day that saw 5 throwers get above 45 feet, leading the way Waterville's Trever Gray who posted a 49-6.

On the girls side it was two familiar foes battling it out and in the end Waterville edged Greely by 4 points to take the team title.

Waterville got wins in the triple jump relay (94-4) behind the strong 34-7 effort of Kellie Bolduc. The Panthers also took the 3xmile relay behind a solid 5:34.45 effort of Lauren Brown, the wining time was 17:47.38. The other winning event for Waterville was the 4x55m shuttle hurdles (39.6)

Greely won one more event than Waterville as the Rangers won a meet high 4 events. In the high jump Greely tallied 13-10 to win the event. They also added wins in the pole vault relay (23-6) & long jump (41-0). The shot put team was successfully as well with a total distance of 83-10, lead by the 34-1 throw of Alyssa Coyne.

Edward Little had a pair of wins taking the 4x200m in a state leading 1:54.18, a very strong early season effort. They would also win the 4x400m in 4:36.43.

Brunswick was strong in the distance events with wins in the Distance Medley (13:39.48) & 4x800m 11:03.10.

Individually Kate Hall of Lake Region jumped 18-2 in her opening meet, the mark is the top in the state.
