Competing on the track he will call home for the next four years, Cheverus senior Jake Dixon traveled to the University of Virgina's Lannigan Field in Charlottesville for the 51st Dogwood Classic track meet this weekend.

The 400m state leader coming into the weekend with a 51.41 clocking on Wednesday, Dixon running in heat 1 bested the competitive field as he equaled his lifetime best of 48.93 to take the win. With an early season time this fast it sets him up to chase the state all-time best of 48.58 held by Chris Downe and Alex Nichols

Dixon came back later in the meet to compete in the 200m in a stacked field, and despite not feeling recovered from the 400m, he was able to run a state leading 22.80. He placed third in section 2 and 11th overall, all while running the race into a -1.6 wind.
