No. 9 Daniel Guiliani breaks New England meet record in shot put

South Portland junior Daniel Guiliani went undefeated in shot put this spring, which included repeating as the Class A state champion. Guiliani entered the New England meet at Thornton Academy as the top seed with his eyes on the breaking the existing meet record of 64-1 set by Dominic Filiano of Lebanon , NH back in 2010.

With the competition won Dan entered the circle with one more chance to break the meet record. "It was my last throw of the season, the whole meet I was really worked up, I had to slow down my spin and stay calm." Guiliani did just that as he bombed the 12lb shot out put to 64-2 1/4 to break the record.
