No. 6 Jake Dixon breaks Maine all-time 400m record 48.45

Senior Jake Dixon of Cheverus high school ran 48.93 in the 400m as a junior coming close to the Maine all-time best mark of 48.58 held by Chris Downe (Messalonskee) & Alex Nichols (Brunswick). Dixon would match his personal best of 48.93 on May 1st as he won the 400m at the Dogwood Track Classic at the University of Virgina, where he will be calling home for the next four years as Cavalier.

At the Class A state meet Dixon toed the line coming off a slight hamstring pull the previous week at the Southwesterns, but that didn't hold hold him back as he powered his way down the homestretch to stop the clock at 48.45, winning his second straight Class A title, but more importantly setting a new personal best and all-time Maine best in the event.

Dixon would go on to finish 3rd in the New England Championship clocking 49.06. Jake also set personal best at 100m (11.35) & 200m (22.19) this spring.
