Tell us how your summer training is going?

My summer training has been pretty simple so far- mostly just mileage with a couple of hill workouts. Because I had a stress fracture that took me out of the outdoor track season, I've been trying to be very careful in working my summer mileage up so that I won't get any injury. So far, though, I've just been doing long distance running and that has been going pretty well.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

My goals for the upcoming season are getting a PR (hopefully by at least a few seconds), and also placing well in Festivals and States.

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I've been running since 6th grade, when I first joined cross country, so that's about 6 years. I had no particular reason on starting cross country in 6th grade- I didn't even know what it was -it just sounded like something interesting I could do with my friends. That season was really fun for me, so I just kept doing XC and track after that.

Will you be competing anywhere out of state this season?

I haven't planned on competing out of state, but if I make it to New England's and it's out of state, then I'll probably complete in that.

What is your favorite course to run in Maine?

My favorite course to run in Maine is definitely Belfast. I don't think I've actually PR'd on this course before, but I really like how it's not to hilly, but not entirely flat either.

What is the toughest course to run in Maine?

I find that the toughest course to run in Maine is the Cony course because of the huge hill. Even though we get the down hill too, it's hard to run down because it's so steep. Also, it just feels like such a long course.

What meet during the regular season do you put extra emphasize on to compete well at?

I really like Festival of Champions, so I definitely put extra emphasis on that race. It just feels like such a big race, even though it's not State's or even KVAC's. Festivals is always just really memorable, especially since the races are divided so specifically, and there are so many teams competing and so many people watching. I also like how everyone can compete in Festivals- that way it makes it a memorable race for everyone, and the whole team can participate.

What is your favorite cross country race so far in your high school career & favorite cross country memory?

I think my favorite race was New England's last year in Connecticut, because it was the first time I made it to New England's in Cross Country. I kept getting injured or having some issue that would ruin the season for me, and last season just felt really good to compete without injury. I remember the Connecticut course really well because it was very interesting even though it was hilly. I think I did my best performance during that race, so I just remember feeling very good afterwards. My favorite cross country memory would be hanging out with the team during States (especially during the course walks and after the race). A lot of my team goes even if he/she is not competing, and it makes the race much more motivating.

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

When I'm not running, I like to do things with my friends or even my sister/brother sometimes, like going to the beach or doing something outdoors. I also really like reading.

Favorite quote?

My favorite is "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" by Steve Prefontaine

What shoes do you train in?

I train in Saucony Kinvara's.

What shoes do you race in?

I race in Nike Zoom Victory XC spikes.

What professional athlete would you most like to meet?

I think the professional athlete I would like to meet most is Molly Huddle or David Rudisha.

What is something that most people don't know about you?

Something most people don't know about me is that I really like piano.
