Tia Tardy of Orono has been selected for the MaineTrackXC performance of the week after her record breaking 3 mile effort of 18:36 at the Bucksport Invitational last weekend. Tardy transferred from Mattanawcook Academy this fall, and has finished first for Orono is both races she has competed in. Tia who set the course record a year ago at 19:01, smashed her record leading 2 other teammates under the old record as well.
On the boys side the winner was John Hassett of George Stevens Academy, who like Tardy broke the course record at Bucksport with his 15:49 performance over the 3 mile course. On the same course a year ago Hassett ran 16:52. The junior is undefeated so far in 2015, and has been running close to a minute faster than a year ago in each race he has competed in.
