Greely junior Katherine Leggat-Barr showed late season form as she ran the second fastest time in course history at St Joe's with her winning effort of 19:19 as she lead a 1-2 finish by the Rangers. Freshman teammate Carolyn Todd ran 19:44.

Leggat-Barr took control of the race early on as she came through the mile in 5:58, her lead at that point was 7 seconds over her teammate Todd, and the Yarmouth duo of Abby Hamilton & Anneka Murrin.

Fryeburg's Anna Lastra & Emily Carty wee next 5 seconds back then it was Liv Palma of Cape Elizabeth.

Leggat-Barr continued to push the pace during the second mile which is downhill for the first part before a long climb back up to campus, she came through two miles in 12:17, her lead had ballooned to 15 seconds.

Todd continued to run in second with Murrin & Hamilton a few strides behind. They had opened up a 20 second plus gap back to Lastra & Carty with Palms still lurking.

The last mile at St. Joe's is all rolling hills but that didn't stop Katherine Leggat-Barr from extending her lead as she pushed the finish line. Her finishing time of 19:19 bested all but the great Abby Leonardi's 19:09 from 2009 (Leonardi won 4 consecutive Class A State titles, and was a 3 time Footlocker Nationals qualifier)

Todd & Hamilton had a strong battle over the final mile, but as the two came up the final hill, the freshman showed her speed as she stepped on the gas pedal to pull away finishing in 19:44, 6 seconds better than D2 champion Hamilton of Yarmouth.

Murrin held her spot in 4th as The Rangers & Clippers gobbled up all the low sticks.

Liv Palma of Cape had a strong last mile as she was able to jump up 2 spots to 5th overall, her finishing time was 20:24, next was the Fryeburg pair of Lastra & Carty in 6th & 7th.

York sophomore Kathryn Miller had a great last mile as she placed 8th, while Yarmouth's 3rd runner grace Cowles came across in 9th (20:53), & last year's individual champion Mira Wyman of Falmouth rounded out the top 10.

While the meet is all run together it is scored out by divisions after the race. In the D1 team race it was #5 Falmouth who rebounded after a tough loss last week to Cape who was the best team in the field. the Yachtsmen showed they will be a team to watch in Class A next week, they scored 48 points, had a 45 second pack time & a strong 21:19 average 5k time on the course. #2 ranked Greely was 2nd with 63 points with #4 Cape 4 points back with 67.

In the D2 team race it was #3 ranked Yarmouth who took the title with 35 points, they averaged 21:05 for 5k, and these was all without running their regular #5 & #6 runners. Fryeburg Academy was the runner-up with 51 points.
