Freshman Nyagoa Bayak entered the New England Championship as the top seed having jumped 5-7 to win the Class A state title. Despite a miss at 5-1, the freshman shook it off and was the only one in the field to clear 5-7 as she won the New England title. Bayak was joined on the podium in the HJ by Class B state meet record holder Emma Egan who cleared 5-5 to finish in a tie for 2nd.


Elisabeth Redwood of Bonny Eagle the Class A 200m champion, and Maine all-time record holder at 400m, stepped up in distance to the 600m today, and came through with a great performance to place 6th earning All-New England honors. Her time of 1:35.45 broke the Maine all-time best set by Tia Tardy of Orono earlier in the day at the USATF-NE meet with a 1:35.55.

The Falmouth boys 4x200m made history as they became the first Maine team to run under 1:32 in the relay as they finished on the podium in the third place with a new Maine all-time best of 1:31.83 (Pictured above Matt Polewazcyk, Nick Snazari, Nigel Dunn, Tony St. Angelo)


Scarborough's Griffin Madden the Class A hurdle champion, equalled his state leading 7.77 in the trials, and then set a new personal best, state lead, and school record of 7.69 in the final as he finished 3rd to earn All-New England honors.

The Shot put podium was full of Maine athletes as Class B Champion Trever Gray of Waterville earned the NE runner-up with a bomb of 54-6 1/4, while Class A champion Austin Lukfin of Brewer was 4th with a throw of 53-11 3/4, and rounded out the Maine athletes earning All-New England honors was Curtis McLeod of MCI with a throw of 53-7 3/4 to place 5th.

Into the record books they go, the Edward Little girls (Anna Beaudet, Morgan Knowlton, Kailey Norcross, & Katie Ferrara) became the first Maine team to run under 1:48 in the 4x200m, as they clocked a state record 1:47.70 to place 14th.

Big day over in the long jump pit as well as Erick Seekins of Brewer & Trejyh Fletcher of Cheverus finished 2nd & 3rd. Seekins, a senior who won the Class A title jumped a state leading and personal best of 21-9.25, while Fletcher just a freshman had almost a foot personal best with his 21-7 jump.

Deering's Paolo DeMarco came out of section 2 to place 6th to earn All-New England honors in the 300m dash. DeMarco the Class A champion at 400m, dropped down in distance, running 35.52, that mark ties him for the #2 time in state history.

The surprise of the day might have been Moriah Newcomb of Brewer jumping 17-2 to score a spot on the long podium with a 6th place finish. Newcomb started the season at 15-10 1/4, has improved by leaps and bounds over the past month.


Hampden Academy's Paul Casavant was on his game in the 2 mile, as the junior lowered his personal best down to 9:22.63 which was good enough for a 4th place finish. The time is the 10th fastest in state history.
