Carsyn Koch wins D2 800M National Title

Cedarville sophomore Carsyn Koch (Washburn, ME) entered the D2 National Championship as the number four seed with a best effort of 2:09.06 (converted for track size). Koch won her section in the prelims with a time of 2:09.79 to automatically qualify for the final her time was the 4th fastest.

In the final Koch got out well in third place as she covered the first 200m in 30, and then moved up to second going through the 400m in 61.5. Koch made the decisive move as she hit one lap to go and the field couldn't match her acceleration. Carsyn powered home for her first D2 national title in 2:05.12, and in the process broke the meet record of 2:05.75 set by Steph Kulman of Grand Valley St back in 2003. Additionally Koch time shattered her own school record of 2:10.54. She previously broke 400m, Mile & DMR records this year. Koch win was the first D2 National indoor champion in Cedarville history

Koch is no stranger to success was the D2 National runner-up last spring in the 800m running 2:05.21.
