Kate Hall transferring to Georgia

Kate Hall transferring to Georgia

Kate Hall, the greatest female high school track & field sprinter & jumper in state history, will transfer from Iowa State University to the University of Georgia in the fall.

Hall took to twitter to announce the decision yesterday in a cryptic sort of way.

Hall who competed for the Cyclones this winter competed in the long jump & 60m, qualifying for the NCAA D1 National Championship in both events, but opted to compete in only the long jump. She went on to finish 10th at the national meet failing to make the final

So why transfer after just one season, Hall said "Things just didn't work out, it wasn't what I thought it was going be."

Hall's dad Eric was grateful the coaching staff at Iowa State granted a full release, which means Kate will be eligible to compete for the Bulldogs next winter.

"Asking for a release was not a knee-jerk reaction based on meet results. The strength and conditioning training at Iowa St. was not as promised and clearly spelled out in writing. The type of training she received was not working." said Eric Hall.

The University of Georgia was one of the school that heavily recruited Hall in high school, and one of the schools she made an official visit to during her recruiting process.

"Coach Petros Kyprianou is among the best if not the best jumps coach in the country and he was recently named as Head Coach. We believe that his coaching philosophy and style will suit Kate perfectly. Coach Petros believes in Kate. On our previous visit we had a brief conversation with Coach Petros and he boldly predicted that Kate was a 22 foot long jumper. Her PR at the time was 19-11." Hall's dad said was one of the reason for choosing the transfer to Georgia

A year ago Hall finished off her outstanding track career at Lake Region High School winning the 100m, 200m & Long Jump at the Class B State meet for the 4 consecutive year. Kate went on to win New England titles in the 100m & long jump. At the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in June, Hall broke the high school national record in the long jump on her final attempt with a leap of 22-5. That mark qualified her for the Olympic Trials.

This spring Hall is redshirting at Iowa State so she can concentrate on her training on the US Olympic Trials in July.

Hall will compete in the upcoming Georgia Invitational in two weeks, "I'm finally getting my pop back & feeling more recovered."

Georgia Head Coach Petros Kyprianou announced the Hall signing this morning on his Instagram account
