Harris advances to 800m final, Hall places 10th in long jump


Isaiah Harris accomplished his pre-meet goal of qualifying for the 800m final as the 19 year old from Lewiston finished 4th in section 1 running 1:45.95. Harris advanced to the final as 1 of the 2 time qualifiers. His effort was the second best time of his career.

Harris sat in 5th place after opening the first 200m in 25.25, he remained in 5th at the bell covering the first 400m in 51.59. He showed his patience remaining 5th as he hit 600m in 1:17.91, then as he did in the first round with 150m Harris started to move outside as he challenged the field before crossing in 4th, .02 outside of the automatic qualifying. His time was the 4th fastest qualifier overall.

Isaiah will now compete for a spot in Rio on Monday at 5:51pm (PST).

In the long jump finals Kate Hall of Casco finished 10th, her best jump was 20-9 3/4. Hall qualified for today's final with a leap of 21-7 1/2 last night.  

Hall was disappointed with her efforts today, telling MaineTrackXC, "My body didn't like jumping two days in a row at all. Wish it was set up differently, but it is what it is."
