Tucker Pierce & Abby Hamilton Top Maine High School Runners in B2B

Senior Tucker Pierce was the top Maine high school boy in the field as he completed the course in 35:45, a 5:46 per mile average. Pierce who ran for Maine Coast Waldorf last fall where he placed second in the Class C state meet. He'll be one of the favorites for the Class C title this fall.
Pierce competed for as a co-op with Gray New Gloucester in the spring where he placed 7th in the Class B 3200m race.
Houlton senior Isaiah Brown was the second Maine high school boy finisher at the 19th annual Beach to Beach 10k on Saturday. Brown broke 36 minutes as his finishing time was 35:55, a very strong 5:47 per mile average.
Brown finished third in both the 1600m (4:42.72) and 3200m (10:24.34) at the Class C State meet this spring. Last fall, Isaiah placed 10th in the Class C State XC Championship.
Windham rising senior Ben Breton (photo by Nina Bennett above) was the third HS finisher. Breton covered the 6.2 mile layout in 36:04, good for a 5:49 mile average. This spring on the track Breton placed 6th in the Class A 3200m race running 9:52.36, he ran a personal best 9:43.36 at the new England Championship a week later. Looking ahead to this fall he is the 4th fastest returner from the Class A State meet, a year ago he placed 9th.
Senior William Webb of Hampden Academy was the fourth high school runner across the line just 15 seconds back of Breton. Webb's finishing time was 36:19, good for 5:51 per mile average. Webb who 17th in the Class A XC State meet a year ago will be one of the top runners on pre-season #1 ranked Hampden Academy.
Yarmouth's Luke Laverdiere was the fifth Maine high school runner across the finish line, his effort was 36:36. Laverdiere went out with the elite men, and then dropped back and ran under control the rest of the way. Luke will be the Class B XC favorite this spring.

Abby Hamilton a senior at Yarmouth High School (pictured above #1247, photo by Allyn Genest) was the best Maine female runner in the field by over 3 minutes as she covered the beautiful scenic 10k race in 38:30. Hamilton averaged 6:12 per mile over the 10k course.
A year ago Hamilton placed 9th in the Class B State XC Championship helping here team to the school's first ever girls xc team title. This spring Hamilton won the Class B 3200m title running 11:12.14, she'll be one of the top competitors in the state this fall.
8th grader Karley Piers of Falmouth gave of us a preview of what we can expect next fall. Piers the daughter of top masters runner Sheri Piers showed the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, as the 13 year old ran 41:44, a 6:43 per mile average.
Waterville senior Cecilia Morin was the next Maine high school runner across the line, Morin stopped the clock at 42:06.
